County Manager John Crumpton asked the Board to consider a revised summer meeting schedule for the months of July, August and September 2012 for Commissioner meetings. The revised meeting schedule would involve only one meeting a month, unless a special meeting should be required. The revised schedule would allow Commissioners and staff the opportunity to plan family vacation time. Commissioner Parks moved to approve the recommended summer meeting schedule for the following dates and times: 4 p.m., Monday, July 16, 2012, 4 p.m., Monday, August 20, 2012, and 4 p.m., Monday, September 17, 2012 All meetings will be held in the Commissioners' Room at the Lee County Government Center, First Floor, 106 Hillcrest Drive, Sanford, North Carolina. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: Aye: Hayes, Oldham, Parks, Paschal, Reives, Shook, and Womack Nay: None The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. Assistant County Manager /Finance Director Lisa Minter presented the Monthly Financial Report for the month ending April 2012. No action was taken. County Manager John Crumpton presented his Monthly Report to the Board, a copy of which is attached to these minutes and by this reference made a part hereof. No action was taken. At this time the Board took a 10- minute recess. Upon returning, with all members present, the meeting resumed. The Board at this conducted public hearings that had been advertised for this date and time. The first public hearing was in reference to the FY 2012 -13 budget. County Manager John Crumpton briefly outlined his proposed budget. Chairman Shook opened the public hearing that had been advertised for this date and time. The following spoke in reference to the FY 2012 -13 budget: • Ms. Anne Beal, 338 Beal Drive, Sanford - Principal at Tramway Elementary School. Ms. Beal asked that Commissioners approve a 1% supplement increase for school staff and the funding of curriculum coaches in the upcoming budget. • Dr. Jeff Moss, Superintendent, Lee County Schools — stated that $172,000 will have to be cut from the schools budget due to an increase in their health insurance if Commissioners did not fund their current budget request.
