LEE COUNTY <br /> Committed Today for a Better Tomorrow <br /> Northview Fire Department <br /> Northview Fire Department has requested a budget increase of$89,735 or 17.1% over the current <br /> budget. Most of the increase in the department's budget is $33,700 for personnel. The department is <br /> adding 40 hours part-time in order to provide staffing at the main station. In addition, the department <br /> has increased Capital Reserve by $40,000 for the purpose to upgrade the main station in preparation for <br /> 24 hours staffing. Northview is currently in the process of developing plans that will allow the <br /> department to work toward a goal of having paid personnel on duty 24 hours a day. The department <br /> feels the continued growth in the industrial park justifies the need for improved level of service. <br /> Northview Fire District's tax base grew by about $273 million. The tax base growth more than off sets <br /> the increase in the budget request. In discussions with the representatives from Northview Fire <br /> Department and their plans to work towards providing 24 hours coverage, the plan is to maintain the <br /> current rate. The Fire Advisory Board is recommending the budget request and maintaining the current <br /> tax rate of$0.08. <br /> Lemon Springs Fire Department <br /> Lemon Springs Fire Department has requested a budget increase $7,210 or 2.4%. The department is <br /> increasing salaries for a cost-of-living raise and an increase in manhours. The department will also be <br /> making repairs to the main station. Lemon Springs Fire District's tax base grew by about$14.8 million. <br /> The growth in tax base will allow the department to maintain its current tax rate of$0.096. <br /> The department currently has a fund balance of$140,000. The department has requested to use <br /> $70,000 for SCBA. Their current air-packs are aging out and the department has begun the process of <br /> purchasing new SCBA. The use of the $70,000 from fund balance will not cause an increase in the fire <br /> tax. The Fire Advisory Board recommends the budget from Lemon Springs Fire Department, along with <br /> the approval for use of the fund balance. <br /> Carolina Trace Fire Department <br /> Carolina Trace Fire Department is requesting a $18,112 or 4.0% increase in their budget for fiscal year <br /> 2021/2022. The increase in the budget was a result of$6,112 in salaries from a cost-of-living raise for <br /> employees.The department continues to work on a replacement program for turnout gear.They have <br /> increased their budget by$18,000 to purchase new turnout gear. Carolina Trace Fire District's tax base <br /> grew by$8.3 million. The department's projected fund balance is $8,000. The increase in the tax base, <br /> along with the use of the $8,000 in fund balance will allow the department to maintain their current tax <br /> rate of$0.115. The Fire Advisory Board is recommending the 2021/2022 budget request and the current <br /> tax rate of$0.115. <br /> 3 <br />
