C.0( •) <br /> WIP - <br /> * * <br /> • <br /> LEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> BUDGET WORK SESSION <br /> MCSWAIN EXTENSION EDUCATION AND AGRICULTURE CENTER <br /> 2420 TRAMWAY ROAD <br /> SANFORD, NC 27330 <br /> June 7, 2021 <br /> MINUTES <br /> Roll Call <br /> Present: Arianna Lavallee, Robert Reives, Cameron Sharpe, Kirk Smith, Bill Carver, Mark <br /> Lovick <br /> Absent: Dr. Andre Knecht <br /> CALL TO ORDER <br /> Chairman Kirk Smith called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m. <br /> Commissioner Cameron Sharpe arrived at 4:05 p.m. <br /> BUDGET WORK SESSION DISCUSSION <br /> Register of Deeds - 4:00 p.m. <br /> Pam Britt, Register of Deeds, provided a summary of the revenues collected this fiscal <br /> year through May 2021. Over 50% of recording is occurring electronically. Permitium, the <br /> online vital records service that was implemented in May 2020 has been efficient in <br /> collecting revenues and is convenient for people that live out of town or out of state. <br /> Budget projections were reached in May, excise taxes and marriages are over what was <br /> projected, the birth rate is down, and the General Fund is currently $60,000 over the <br /> projected amount. The Register of Deeds is now located in the newly renovated Fireplace <br /> building. County Manager John Crumpton noted that this department is one of the <br /> contributing departments to the General Fund due to the revenues brought in. <br /> 1 <br />
