Dr. Moss stated a total of almost $4 <br />million will have to be cut from the school budget in the upcoming year due to <br />county and state cuts. <br />Chairman Shook closed the public hearing. <br />County Manager John Crumpton outlined the second public hearing advertised for the FY 2013- <br />17 Capital Improvements Program (C /P). Mr. Crumpton stated that $20,295,505 in capital projects had <br />been requested for the FY 2012 -13 budget and $5,839,805 was being recommended v <br />Chairman Shook opened the public hearing that had been <br />and time. <br />The following spoke in reference to the recommended FY 2013 -17 Capital Improvements Plan: <br />• Dr. Jeff Moss, Superintendent, Lee Count/Schools. Dr. Moss stated he would <br />like to sit down with the Board and discuss the addition of a new elementary <br />school within the next two years. He stated that growth will exceed 10,000 pupils <br />in the next five years and the Board�df�Ed"ucation may have to consider <br />redistricting at the elementary level if no new school construction is scheduled in <br />the next one to two years. <br />Chairman Shook closed the public hearing. <br />The third and final public hearing involved , ttie -Rua/ Operating Assistance Program Grant for <br />Lee County Senior Services. Senior Services Director) Debbie- Davidson presented the following fund <br />levels that have been allocated to Lee County for the �NC�Department of Transportation FY 2012 -13 <br />Rural Operating Assistance Grant application in the total amount of $162,402.00: <br />Elderly and Disabled Transportati\ Assistance - $63,292.00 with no local match <br />required. These funds- assist clients of Lee County Senior Services, Lee County Industries, and <br />The Center for Independent Living, Dialysis patients and other elderly /disabled Lee County <br />residents with needed transportation services. <br />EmpIoVmentAn4s - -- $1.9,399.00 with no local match required. These funds assist <br />Department of Social'Seivices Work First clients, Workforce Development programs and other <br />citizens in need of employmeot <br />/ Rural General Public ; , $79,711.00 — minimum match — 10% fare charged to passengers. <br />These will be used to transport the general public for various transit needs.
