2012 - S <br />• LEE COUNTY <br />Committed Today for a Better Tomorrow <br />RESOLUTION <br />REQUESTING THE LEE COUNTY BOARD OF ELECTIONS TO CONDUCT <br />AN ALCOHOLIC BEVEREAGES ELECTION IN ALL COUNTY TOWNSHIPS <br />CONCERNING THE PROPOSITIONS OF WHETHER TO ALLOW <br />THE OFF- PRESMISES SALE ONLY OF MALT BEVERAGES <br />AND THE OFF - PREMISES SALE ONLY OF FORTIFIED WINE <br />WHEREAS, North Carolina General Statute § 186- 600(f) allows a county board of <br />commissioners to request an election to be called on any of the alcoholic beverages propositions <br />authorized by North Carolina General Statute § 18B- 602(a), (d), and (h) in any township located within <br />a county where the population of all cities in the county that have previously approved the sale of any <br />kind of alcoholic beverages comprises more than twenty percent (20 %) of the total county population as <br />of the most recent federal census; and <br />WHEREAS, the population of all cities in Lee County which previously have approved the sale <br />of any kind of alcoholic beverages compromises over fifty per cent (50 %) of the total county population <br />according to the most recent federal decennial census of 2010; and <br />• WHEREAS, the Lee County Board of Commissioners is authorized under the provisions of <br />North Carolina General Statute 186- 600(f) and 18B- 601(a) and (d) to request the Lee County Board of <br />Elections to conduct elections in the townships of Cape Fear, Deep River, East Sanford, Greenwood, <br />Jonesboro, Pocket, and West Sanford in Lee County concerning the 'off- premises' sale of only malt <br />beverages and the 'off- premises" sale only of unfortified wines under these circumstances. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Lee County Board of Commissioners that the <br />Lee County Board of Elections is hereby requested to conduct separate elections in the townships of <br />Cape Fear, Deep River, East Sanford, Greenwood, Jonesboro, Pocket, and West Sanford on the <br />following propositions no sooner than sixty (60) days or later than one hundred twenty (120) days from <br />the date the Board of Elections receives this request: <br />A. As to the sale of malt beverages: <br />To permit the 'off- premises' sale only of malt beverages. <br />[ ] FOR <br />[ ] AGAINST <br />• <br />
