The Recreation Superintendent would be classified as a pay grade of 72 ($52,395-$81,213) . The Recreation Superintendent will be responsible for the Recreation Division. With major park projects, updating the Comprehensive Master Plan and the upcoming multi-sport complex, the Director is pulled away from the Recreation Division. Sloan Park At the August 18, 1997 regular board meeting, the Board considered an offer from the Boys and Girls Clubs of Sanford/Lee County to lease a tract of land in O.T. Sloan Park. At the time, the Board approved the adoption of a resolution authorizing the advertisement of acceptance of an offer from the Club to lease 1.15 acres of land in O.T. Sloan Park. The offer form the Club was for the club to lease the 1.15 acres of land and construct a building not less than 10,000 square feet whereby the Club would operate a youth program there for a period of 25 years. Since the Board was leading the property to the Club for 25 years it had to allow for additional offers to lease the property on more favorable terms. However, no one submitted any additional offers and the Board Chair signed the lease as of September 15, 1997. The Boys and Girls Club of Sanford/Lee County has requested a renewal to the lease agreement. Staff is recommending that the County move forward with the lease of nine years. Under NC General Statute 160A-272, the Board can lease property less than ten years by publishing notice of intent to lease the property at least 30 days before the regular meeting of the board at which resolution authorizing the lease will be considered then at its regular board meeting, the board can adopt the resolution authorizing the lease. County Attorney Whitney Parrish stated that if the Board is ready to proceed they can act to authorize staff to publish notice of said lease and have a resolution authorizing the lease to be placed on the Board's June 7, 2021 Regular Board meeting.
