phase 1 of the Parks Master plan. Work has been slow due to the rainy weather. We still
expect all of phase 1 to be completed by the end of August 2021.
Bob Hales Center — Framing construction, HVAC ductwork and rough-in for electrical
and plumbing are complete. The contractor has now moved onto the sheet rock
installation. Estimated completion is still July 1, 2021.
T-Ball fields at OT Sloan — Work continues on the new T- Ball fields at OT Sloan. The
four new fields are under construction next to the Boys and Girls Club. Rainy weather
delayed this project significantly. Two of the four fields are essentially complete and we
can begin using them. Anticipate two more weeks on the remaining two fields before they
are complete. Fencing installation has begun and will be complete in two weeks.
Other Items
COVID-19 Update — Lee County is now accepting vaccine registration requests for all
Groups. The Health Department is still focusing on the Tuesday and Wednesday events
at the Civic Center. These two days are the best days for both the College and the
Department. In these two days, the County has the capacity to give 3000 shots. The
Department has also set up an event on Saturday May 1, at the Christian Provision
Ministries off Courtland Drive. The Department is currently accepting reservations for this
event. In addition, COLTS has received a grant from DOT to provide transportation to
not only this event, but also all the events at the Civic Center. Citizens can call COLTS
at 919-776-7201 to schedule a ride.
San Lee Mountain Bike Trails — Gravity Park — I will give an update on our inspections
of the trails and review of safety procedures at the Park.
Fiscal Year 2021-22 Budget Preparation — The first round of meetings with the
Department Heads are complete. I am still on track to present the budget to the
Commissioners at the May 3rd meeting even though I will not have the formal request
from the Board of Education until May 15. Below in the calendar section I have listed the
dates in May and June for our budget workshops so the Commissioners can begin to plan
their schedules. Budget adoption is scheduled for the June 21 meeting.
Reports
Tax Report—Attached please find the Tax Collection Summary Report for March 2021.
Community Development/Activity Summary — The Technical Review Committee
Agenda for the April 29, 2021 meeting is attached.
Building Inspections Report — Has not been received at the time of publication of this
agenda and will be provided at a future date following receipt.
Parks and Recreation Agenda — The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board agenda for
their March 22, 2021 meeting is attached.
