County Manager's Report — April 19, 2021 <br /> Ongoing Projects <br /> Courthouse & Government Center Renovations— Bar Construction has completed the <br /> majority of work on the first floor of the Register of Deeds Building. A few punch list items <br /> remain along with some electrical and HVAC issues on the second floor which will not <br /> delay the relocation of the ROD. Furniture and Equipment have been delivered to the <br /> building. Over the next 4 weeks, the ROD will begin the long process of moving all <br /> records,files and computer systems to the new Building. Key dates for the move are May <br /> 6 - 8 when Logan Systems will move the computer systems from the Courthouse to the <br /> new building. The ROD Office will be closed on Friday, May 7 as staff begins the <br /> transition to the new facility. Kofile will be moving the delicate and most important records <br /> from the old location to the new location May 12 - 15tH <br /> Renovation work in the Historic Courthouse has ramped up and will be complete in two <br /> weeks. Furniture delivery is scheduled for April 19. Demolition has been completed and <br /> new walls, etc. are being constructed. We expect the DA to move into their new space <br /> by the end of June 2021. Work will start in the Main Courthouse Building after the DA's <br /> move into the Historic Courthouse. The contractor has agreed to work a 6:00pm to <br /> 2:30am schedule to limit the disruptions in the courtrooms. <br /> Work at the Government Center has begun. Demolition of ceilings has started. We have <br /> completed the first move of staff to other areas of the Government Center. This is going <br /> to be a long process so we will give an updated completion date once demolition is <br /> finished. <br /> Board of Elections General Service's staff has completed the plan for the move of the <br /> Board of Elections to the Bowling Alley Building. Tim Sherman has completed the <br /> construction drawings and we are moving forward. We anticipate this project being <br /> completed by June 1. <br /> Parking Lots - Design of the new parking lot at the corner of Courtland and Elm is <br /> complete and has been approved by the City of Sanford. The new parking lot next to the <br /> Douglas Drive Building is being delayed because the City is requiring rezoning of the lot <br /> next to building. The City is also requiring additional handicap spots in the main <br /> courthouse parking lot due to the renovations of the Courtland Drive parking lot. <br /> Park Projects — After the Commissioners Meeting on March 15, Santiago Giraldo met <br /> with JM Thompson to discuss the tennis courts at Kiwanis Children's Park and OT Sloan. <br /> JMT offered a change order that would allow the construction of three (3) youth tennis <br /> courts with pickle ball lines at Kiwanis Children's Park and adding four (4) permanent <br /> designated pickle ball courts at OT Sloan and eliminating 3 of the 6 tennis courts. The <br /> change order saves over $8,000 at Kiwanis Children's Park and reduces the cost of <br /> construction at OT Sloan significantly. A summary of change orders for the parks is <br /> attached. Work continues at Horton, Temple, OT Sloan and Kiwanis Children's Park with <br />
