VI.0 Cape Fear Fire Department Clearwater Forest Fire Protection Service District In 2011, the Board of Commissioners voted to approve the Clearwater Forest Fire and Rescue Service District. At the time, the County entered into an agreement with the City of Sanford to provide fire service in the district. In 2013, in order to improve the fire protection class ratings for all parcels in Lee County, the Board of Commissioners adopted seven additional fire and protection service districts. In order to reduce the fire service rate for the residents of Clearwater Forest, it has been suggested that the County terminate its contract with the City and enter into a contract with the Cape Fear Fire Department to provide the services in Clearwater Forest Fire and Rescue Service District. Emergency Services Director Shane Seagroves presented 1. a resolution for the adoption of the proposed fire district maps, and 2. an agreement with Cape fear Fire Department to provide fire protection to the Clearwater Service District Area. The Board previously contracted with the City of Sanford at a tax rate of 18.7 cents. The proposals is to go with Cape Fear and to save about 6.67 cents. The contract provides for automatic mutual aid. Cape Fear Fire Department would serve as the primary response, and North view and Carolina Trace Fire Departments would serve as backup. Ten companies attended a mandatory pre-bid meeting, and 6 submitted bids, a copy of the bid tabulation sheet is attached to these minutes. Development Services Director Santiago Giraldo requested the approval of the bid for Marks Construction company in the amount of$66,522 for the Board of Elections renovations which is included in the Lee County Courthouse and Government Center Renovation funding and $26,818 for the Kiwanis Family Park Shelter which is currently in the General Services Budget for FY 20-21. 6
