VI. H. Discussion regarding County Property off of Colon Road
County Manager John Crumpton stated that some issues have come up with the property
owned by the County located off of Colon Road and adjacent to the Bharat Forge site. He
presented a video of the property from late May from when they were excavating the site and
setting up the pads where they found unsuitable soil that would not be usable for the building
and parking lot. The dirt was moved to the County's site. The dirt and debris from the
excavation currently sits on the County's property and the Company is now considering
Phase 2 of the project and wants to move additional dirt to the property. To do this, the
County will need to lease the property to the City to put the additional dirt on the property
which is estimated to take an additional 18 months to complete. This site is accessed off of
Tabitha Lane which is owned by Mr. Jimmy Poindexter. The City has agreed to meet with Mr.
Poindexter to get an agreement regarding access. The proposed additional dirt will be moved
back to the property following the development phase. Provisions will need to include that the
dirt needs to be moved within the 18 months. The County has the intent to sell the property.
There has been an inquiry regarding the property. The existing dirt and debris pile needs to
be removed as it could potentially hinder a sale due to its contents and the amount of space
it encompasses.
Motion: Motion to work an arrangement with the City to lease the property for a
period up to 18 months with the provision to remove the existing dirt and debris
pile.
Mover: Robert Reives
For: 6 - Arianna Lavallee, Dr. Andre Knecht, Robert Reives, Kirk Smith, Bill Carver,
Mark Lovick
Absent: 1 - Cameron Sharpe
Motion Result: Passed
VII.
