1110 <br /> STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA ) <br /> PUBLIC NOTICE <br /> COUNTY OF LEE ) <br /> NOTICE IS HEREBY given that the Lee County Board of Commissioners will <br /> hold a Special Called Meeting on Monday, March 22, 2021 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the <br /> Dennis A. Wicker Civic Center located at 1801 Nash Street, Sanford, NC 27330. This meeting <br /> will address the following items of business: <br /> 1. Public hearing for an economic development project known as Project Star. Project <br /> Star is a life science manufacturing project. The Board proposes to participate in the <br /> cost of the project, which consists of building construction and the purchase of <br /> machinery and equipment in the amount of at least $213,000,000 (two hundred and <br /> thirteen million dollars) in taxable investment with Lee County sharing up to <br /> $6,469,026 (Six million four hundred sixty-nine thousand twenty-six dollars) of the <br /> cost of the project with revenues from the County's General Fund over the seven- <br /> year life of the project. The project is estimated to create 315 new jobs with an <br /> average annual wage of$60,000 over the seven-year length of the project. Project <br /> Star will stimulate the local economy, promote additional business activity, add to the <br /> tax base, create jobs and increased payroll in Lee County's economy. It is expected <br /> that the Board will vote on whether to approve the incentive after the public hearing is <br /> held. <br /> 2. Discussion regarding county property located off of Colon Road <br /> 3. Public Statement from Commissioner Kirk Smith <br /> 4. Closed Session <br /> 5.
