According to the Ordinance for the Operation of Ambulance Services within Lee County
that was adopted July 6, 1982, the Lee County Ambulance Advisory Committee shall be
the enforcing agency for the regulation of the ordinance. Section 14.1 of the Ordinance
lists some of the duties of the Committee which include receiving franchise proposals
from potential providers, studying the proposals for conformance to the ordinance,
recommending to the Board of Commissioners the award of the franchise to the
applicant submitting the best proposals and other enforcement responsibilities. The
Ambulance Advisory Committee had previously been established on August 3, 1981
when the Board of Commissioners adopted a Resolution Establishing the Lee County
Ambulance Advisory Committee. At the time, EMS was run by the County and the
Committee consisted of the Lee County Ambulance Service Director and two providers
of health services and two non-providers and the Board retained the right to expand or
reduce the role of the Committee and/or the size of the Committee as they feel the need
occurs. With the upcoming EMS franchise expiring and with the potential of multiple
providers staff is requesting the Committee be revived. Staff is recommending that the
Board give the Manager the authority to appoint the individuals to the Committee which
should consist of the Emergency Management Director, two members of the health-
care field and two members with EMS knowledge. The Emergency Management
Director will be a permanent committee member and the other four members will serve
three year terms. The Committee will need to meet at least quarterly to hear updates
from the EMS Franchisee.
Resolution Establishing Ambulance Advisory Committee 8.3.1981.pdf
Resolution_for_Ambulance_Committee.docx
1982 Ordinance for the Operation of Ambulance Service.pdf
Motion: Motion to adopt Resolution Updating the Establishment of the Lee
County Ambulance Advisory Committee.
Mover: Dr. Andre Knecht
For: 7 - Arianna Lavallee, Dr. Andre Knecht, Robert Reives, Cameron Sharpe, Kirk
Smith, Bill Carver, Mark Lovick
Motion Result: Passed
VI.
