Sloan Pool) <br /> - Cara Simmons Langston, 2201 Spring Lane, Sanford, NC 273330 (Water safety in <br /> schools) <br /> - Samantha Jefferies, 1501 Gormly Circle, Sanford, NC (Year around at O.T. Sloan) <br /> - Andrew Jefferies, 1501 Gormly Circle, Sanford, NC (Year around at O.T. Sloan) <br /> Commissioner Knecht arrived at 6:08 p.m. <br /> IV. OLD BUSINESS <br /> IV.A Approve MOU for Project SAFE Neighborhoods <br /> The Project SAFE Coordinator position is how local governments have been able to <br /> help reduce violent crime and reduce the number of repeat offenders in the County. The <br /> Coordinator position works closely with Probation Officers, Department of Health and <br /> Human Services, local transportation agencies, Community College, Bread Basket/Food <br /> Bank, unemployment offices, substance abuse providers, and vocational rehabilitation <br /> to get parolees the services they need. Assistant US Attorney Rob Lang and District <br /> Attorney Suzanne Matthews were present. The new MOU will run from February 2021 <br /> through June 2022 to run with the fiscal year. Commissioner Sharpe asked for a <br /> summary of the activities of the position since COVID. Rob Lang with the US Attorney's <br /> office and the Project Safe Neighborhood Coordinator for the district indicated COVID <br /> has impacted the program and the ability to build relationships. District Attorney <br /> Suzanne Matthews stated that more community outreach and engagement will take <br /> place when restrictions are lifted. Agent Chris Thompson with the Sheriff's Office who is <br /> part of the task force spoke in favor of the program. <br />
