L. <br /> 11( �Nk��\ <br /> RESOLUTION UPDATING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE <br /> LEE COUNTY AMBULANCE ADVISORY COMMITTEE <br /> WHEREAS, the County of Lee originally maintained and operated an Ambulance Service on <br /> behalf of the citizens of the County; and <br /> WHEREAS, in 1981 the County of Lee adopted an Ordinance for the Operation of Ambulance <br /> Services within Lee County and Section 14.1 states that the Lee County Ambulance Advisory <br /> Committee shall be the enforcing agency for the regulations contained in this Ordinance and the <br /> details the Committee's specific duties; and <br /> WHEREAS, in August 1981 the Board of Commissioners adopted a Resolution Establishing the <br /> Lee County Ambulance Advisory Committee which initially consisted of five members <br /> including the Lee County Ambulance Service Director, two providers of health services, and two <br /> non-providers; and <br /> WHEREAS, Section 7 of the Resolution Establishing the Lee County Ambulance Advisory <br /> Committee allows for the Board of County Commissioners to expand or reduce the role of the <br /> Committee and/or the size of the Committee as they feel the need occurs; and <br /> WHEREAS, beginning in 1997 the County of Lee began to franchise emergency and non- <br /> emergency services to a local provider and no longer provided ambulance services as a county <br /> department; and <br /> WHEREAS, since 1997 no other provider has expressed interest in submitting an application to <br /> be considered for a franchise until this year; and <br /> WHEREAS, it is the intent of the Board of Commissioners that the Ambulance Advisory <br /> Committee be revised in order to review applications and investigate possible franchises. <br /> NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: <br /> 1. The Board of Commissioners gives the County Manager the authority to appoint <br /> individuals to the Committee which should consist of the Emergency Management <br /> Director, two members of the health-care field, and two members with EMS knowledge. <br />
