with the clinics that are not paid by the county. There are now 50+ people helping out
with the events now. There should be another 1,500 vaccines administered this week.
Lee County was allocated 600 first doses this past week, which were received Friday.
The State allocated 500 additional for second doses this week. There is a concern
about vaccine inventory so they are planning events around expected inventory. Right
now there is sufficient vaccines available, but there may be an issue at some point in
the future. The Health Department is the primary vaccination resource in the county at
the moment. Once the vaccine is thawed there is about a 5-6 day period it can be used.
Once it reaches room temperature there is only about 2-4 hours to use it. The practice
has been modified so that everything stays cold until they see cars so there is little to no
vaccine wasted. There is a form available on the website and an available phone
number for a Health Department staff person to reach for anyone who is interested in
volunteering.
Vaccine Strategy and Process 01 26 2021.pdf
V.E Opioid Discussion and Future Services in Lee County - Dr. John Crumpton and
Chairman Kirk Smith
Chairman Kirk Smith reminded the Board that this item was carried over from the
Retreat Agenda. The Health Department is working with the Sandhills Center to try to
get an office space inside the Health Department. They were looking for an area to set
up 4 days a week 32 hours a week. City Counsel is working on creating a task force.
The Health Department isn't doing referrals but may operate as a pass through to help
people to set up appointments. When the stimulus checks came out there was a spike
in overdoses. Mr. Cain recommended trying to do a better job educating the public. The
pandemic has caused further emotional and health issues and having a source to help
with referrals would help. Commissioner Lavallee stated that the consortium is planning
on meeting in a couple of weeks. Daymark has also filled their existing space with staff.
Lee co 1.4.2021.pptx
Lee Co fata non fatal data .pptx
SOTCH Report 2019.pdf
V. F Consideration of a Resolution In Support of Legislation Limiting the City of Sanford
in Forcing Satellite Annexations
Commissioner Knecht requested a vote on a Resolution regarding satellite annexation,
which is intended to address issues related to City services and properties located
outside of the three mile limit. This Resolution is intended to help bring attention to
developing a plan for police and fire and utility connection associated with the annexation
process going forward. Commissioner Knecht stated that he discussed the issue with
Sanford Mayor Chet Mann at the Board's Planning Retreat. Commissioner Lavallee read
aloud the proposed Resolution. A copy of the "Resolution of the Lee County Board of
Commissioners In Support of Legislation Limiting the City of Sanford in Forcing Satellite
Annexations"is attached and incorporated into these Minutes.
Motion: Motion to approve "Resolution of the Lee County Board of
Commissioners In Support of Legislation Limiting the City of Sanford In Forcing
Satellite Annexations" as presented.
Mover: Dr. Andre Knecht
