II. Public Hearing on Project 2 <br /> Economic Development Director Michael Smith presented a proposed economic <br /> development project referred to as Project 2. Project 2 is a life sciences manufacturing <br /> project which consists of building construction and the purchase of machinery and <br /> equipment in the amount of at least$ 75,000,000 in taxable investment with the County <br /> sharing up to $2,119,214 of the cost of the project with revenues from the County's <br /> General fund over the seven-year life of the project. The project is estimated to create at <br /> least 200 new jobs with an average annual wage of$100,000 over the seven-year length <br /> of the project. It is a target industry in a strategic location in Central Carolina Enterprise <br /> Park. It is a supplier of existing industry and would build on the emerging life science <br /> cluster. Project 3 is a life science manufacturing <br /> project. The project consists of building construction and the purchase of machinery and <br /> equipment in the amount of at least $213,000,000 in taxable investment with Lee County <br /> sharing up to $6,100,978 of the cost of the project with revenues from the County's <br /> General Fund over the seven-year life of the project. The project is estimated to create <br /> 275 new jobs with an average annual wage of$60,000 over the seven-year length of the <br /> project. It is competing with three other locations in NC and four other states. It is a target <br /> industry looking at Central Carolina Enterprise Park. It is a building on the emerging life <br /> sciences cluster. Chair Dalrymple opened the public hearing on Project 3. No one spoke <br /> in favor or against the proposed project. As a reminder, there were seven comments that <br /> were submitted and read by the clerk during the comments for Project 1 and were in <br /> general favor of the presented projects.
