Lee County foreclosed on the property located at 6966
Sheriff Watson Road in 2013. The taxable value of the property is $72,400. Most
surplus properties the county disposes of through the upset bid process are vacant
properties, however this property contains a residence. The amount owed on the
property is $8,876.14. At the October 2020 Board meeting, the Board rejected an
offer of$1,000 and set the minimum offer to the amount owed on the property. An
offer has been submitted by Lydia Taylor for the purchase of the property in the
amount of$8,900.
Deed to County 2013.pdf
Tax Card.pdf
Sheriff Watson Rd Surplus Property Disposal Resolution 1.20.21.docx
Motion: Motion to accept the offer from Lydia Taylor in the amount of$8,900
and proceed through the upset bid process.
Mover: Dr. Andre Knecht
For: 7 - Arianna Lavallee, Dr. Andre Knecht, Robert Reives, Cameron Sharpe,
Kirk Smith, Bill Carver, Mark Lovick
Motion Result: Passed
IV.D Update on the Mary Margaret McLeod Mural
County Attorney Whitney Parrish stated that in February 2019 the Board adopted a
Memorandum of Understanding with the Susanne Reeves Literary Club allowing
for a mural recognizing Dr. Margaret McLeod to be placed on the Lee County
Government Center. Downtown Sanford Incorporated and the Literary Club worked
with an artist, Christine Dalton, on the design of the mural. The artist plans to begin
the mural early this spring. The contract has been included in the agenda and is
between DSI and the Sanford Appearance Commission which requires county's
signature to warrant keeping the mural for 10 years and will cover damage up to
$250.
