V,CO UAT <br /> • <br /> ip <br /> 't <br /> *111,CAO\' <br /> AMENDMENT TO RESOLUTION CREATING A PARKS AND RECRATION COMMISSION <br /> FOR LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA <br /> WHEREAS, THE Lee County Board of Commissioners adopted a "Resolution Creating a Parks and <br /> Recreation Commission for Lee County, North Carolina" on October 1, 1990; and, <br /> WHEREAS, due to changes over time, it is necessary to amend the By-Laws and Resolution Creating <br /> the Parks and Recreation Commission to consistently and accurately reflect the current operation of the <br /> Commission; and, <br /> NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Lee County Board of Commissioners that the following <br /> shall replace previous provisions set forth in the Resolution adopted on October 1, 1990: <br /> Section 1 —Number of Members <br /> The Lee County Parks and Recreation Commission composed shall be composed of seven <br /> Newregular members and two alternate members. <br /> Section 2 — Powers and Duties <br /> The Parks and Recreation Commission shall serve as the advisory body for the Parks and <br /> Recreation Department. It shall have the following responsibilities: <br /> 1. Consult with and advise the Department of Parks and Recreation in matters affecting recreation <br /> policies, programs, personnel, finances and the acquisition and disposal of lands and properties <br /> relating to the total community recreation program and to its long-range projected program for <br /> parks and recreation. <br /> 2. Serve as a liaison between the Department of Parks and Recreation and the citizens of Lee <br /> County. <br /> Section 3— Length of Appointments; County Commission Representative <br /> All appointments of the Commission, except for the Commissioner representative, shall be for a <br /> term of three years. Members of the Commission shall be eligible for re-appointment but not to <br /> exceed two consecutive terms. When a member is appointed to fill a vacancy where more than <br /> one-half of the term has already expired, that member shall be eligible for re-appointment for three <br /> consecutive terms. A representative from the Board of Commissioners for Lee County shall serve <br /> as a non-voting, ex-officio member. <br />
