V,CO UAT • ip 't *111,CAO\' AMENDMENT TO RESOLUTION CREATING A PARKS AND RECRATION COMMISSION FOR LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA WHEREAS, THE Lee County Board of Commissioners adopted a "Resolution Creating a Parks and Recreation Commission for Lee County, North Carolina" on October 1, 1990; and, WHEREAS, due to changes over time, it is necessary to amend the By-Laws and Resolution Creating the Parks and Recreation Commission to consistently and accurately reflect the current operation of the Commission; and, NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Lee County Board of Commissioners that the following shall replace previous provisions set forth in the Resolution adopted on October 1, 1990: Section 1 —Number of Members The Lee County Parks and Recreation Commission composed shall be composed of seven Newregular members and two alternate members. Section 2 — Powers and Duties The Parks and Recreation Commission shall serve as the advisory body for the Parks and Recreation Department. It shall have the following responsibilities: 1. Consult with and advise the Department of Parks and Recreation in matters affecting recreation policies, programs, personnel, finances and the acquisition and disposal of lands and properties relating to the total community recreation program and to its long-range projected program for parks and recreation. 2. Serve as a liaison between the Department of Parks and Recreation and the citizens of Lee County. Section 3— Length of Appointments; County Commission Representative All appointments of the Commission, except for the Commissioner representative, shall be for a term of three years. Members of the Commission shall be eligible for re-appointment but not to exceed two consecutive terms. When a member is appointed to fill a vacancy where more than one-half of the term has already expired, that member shall be eligible for re-appointment for three consecutive terms. A representative from the Board of Commissioners for Lee County shall serve as a non-voting, ex-officio member.
