The Budget Public Hearing will be May 21 st . 2) As requested at the Budget Kickoff meeting on March 8 we met with department heads and developed a list of cuts that could reduce the tax rate by 2 and 5 cents. This list will not include the consideration of changing the sales tax distribution method from Per Capita to Ad Valorem. In addition, we have determined that many of these types of cuts will require a 4 percent across the Board cut for the 2 cent reduction and a 10 percent cut for the 5 cent reduction. I am not ready to release the list, but can tell the Board that many programs and jobs will be eliminated. Services in many areas will be reduced or eliminated. The list will not be given with my recommendation to make these cuts. Upcoming Meetings As a reminder we will be meeting early on April 16 to discuss the CIP. I have invited everyone who submitted a project to attend the meeting. The meeting will start at 4 pm and be held in the Gordon Wicker Conference Room. The BOE will go first at 4:00 then CCCC at 4:30. All other Departments will begin at 5:00.
