A schedule showing the impact of switching from the per capita
method of distribution to the ad valorem method has been provided. The schedule
applies the FY 11 -12 ad valorem distribution allocation to the actual revenues received
in FY 10 -11. Please note that if the County chooses the ad valorem method of
distribution all taxing districts in the County would receive part of the sales tax, i.e. the
fire districts and the Central Business District.
The following steps would have to be taken to change the method of distribution:
During the month of April, the Board of County Commissioners would have to
adopt a resolution choosing the ad valorem method distribution for the next fiscal
year.
File a certified copy of the resolution with the Secretary in Raleigh within 15 days
of the adoption of the resolution.
BUDGET IMPACT See attached
ATTACHMENT(S) (1) Sales tax distribution schedule, (2) NC G.S. 105 -472 Disposition and Distribution of
Taxes Collected and (3) Resolution Amending the Method of Sales Tax Distribution for
Lee County
PUBLIC HEARING No
PRIOR BOARD ACTION N/A
RECOMMENDATION Pleasure of the Board
