Box 1968 <br />Sanford, NC 27331 -1968 <br />Subject: Lee County High School Contingency <br />Dear Mr. Crompton: <br />As we are nearing the completion of the Lee County High School project, I believe there is much <br />we can celebrate. The building brings a new face to the public on an old structure that will serve <br />the needs of Lee County students and citizens for many years. We have experienced much <br />success but also have experienced challenges as with any renovation project. As we all know and <br />understand; if there are issues with a renovation project, they present themselves once the <br />internal walls come down. <br />The County has been a great partner in this project and together we have been able to absorb all <br />challenges through existing revenue until now. The back parking lot was left out of the bid where <br />students park. The cost of the paving, which will be completed this summer, is estimated at <br />$195,527 which will drop us into contingency. As you know, the contingency was set at <br />$400,000 for items outside of the contract. The current estimate of funds remaining after the <br />contingency is applied for the parking lot will be $292,579_ <br />I am asking the County to consider this letter as Lee County Schools request to use contingency <br />in the amount of $195,527 for the paving of the student parking lot to complete the project. <br />Attached you will find a summary of revenues and expenses; and if I need to provide additional <br />information, please let me know. <br />JCM/spb <br />Enclosure <br />C.
