The 2018 LEPC Annual Report was considered under new business. This report is a review of the 2018 <br /> year of meetings for the LEPC. This report must be approved by the LEPC and the Lee County Board of <br /> Commissioners before being submitted to the NC State Emergency Response Committee. A motion was <br /> made for acceptance as written by Shane Seagroves and seconded by Chief Wayne Barber,the motion <br /> was approved unanimously. <br /> In other business, Rob Roegner and Brian Taylor presented on the importance of fireworks safety. Their <br /> presentation reviewed the proper way in which both commercial and private fireworks should be handled <br /> and utilized. Several photos and videos were provided to illustrate the dangers of improperly handled <br /> fireworks and how those can affect the user's health and safety. An employee of Pfizer provided a <br /> firsthand account of his injuries sustained from improperly using fireworks in the private setting. The <br /> presentation significantly reinforced the need for safety and proper handling techniques when interacting <br /> with fireworks. <br /> The Chairman reinforced the need for fireworks safety during his comments and appreciation for the <br /> participation of all LEPC meetings.
