V. NEW BUSINESS
V.A Request from the Board of Elections
Susan Feindel, Chair of the Lee County Board of Election introduced Jeni
Harris, the new Elections Director for Lee County. There have been multiple
requests from both political parties to provide portable toilets at election sites.
The portable toilets will be utilized by electioneers and can be used by the
public. Staff was requested to get bids to provide portable toilets along with a
sink. The Lee County Board of Elections voted to request that the Board of
Commissioners consider funding the supply of portable toilets at all Early Voting
and Election Day sites. The fees are for the duration of One Stop and Election
Day. The One Stop sites would be pumped once a week. For regular and ADA
units along with sink units the total was $4,080. Another vendor quoted $2,640
but the quote does not include sink units. Commissioner Reives stated the
budget should include enough to cover sanitizing. County Manager John
Crumpton recommended allocating at least $10,000 for the anticipated
expense. Dr. Crumpton stated that he would assist the Elections Director in
managing the arrangements.
Commissioner Portables Request 08.13.20.docx
Motion: Motion to approve the acquisition of Company A to include the
sink units and to take all proper precautions to avoid liability and to
sanitize the units with the blowers.
Mover: Kirk Smith
Moved To: Approve
For: 7 - Amy Dalrymple, Kevin Dodson, Arianna Del Palazzo, Dr. Andre
Knecht, Robert Reives, Cameron Sharpe, Kirk Smith
Motion Result: Passed
9
