<br />EMERGENCY SERVICES DIRECTOR
<br />Refers to local ordinances, State statutes and code, Department of Transportation regulations,
<br />Federal guidelines, personnel policy, etc.
<br />Operates a variety of vehicles such as truck, tanker, ambulance, law enforcement cruiser, ATV,
<br />etc.; and office equipment such as computer printer, jump drive, CD -RW, etc.
<br />Utilizes hand tools, rescue equipment air bags, shovel and axe, office supplies, radioactive
<br />source (s), fire extinguisher, and computer software such as Microsoft Office, AroViaw, Cameo
<br />Suite, EM 2000, Munis, etc.
<br />interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals Including County Manager, fire,
<br />law enforcement Emergency Medical Services, government employees, subordinates, and the
<br />general public.
<br />ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS
<br />Appears on television and radio talk shows to share emergency preparedness information and
<br />answer questions from the public.
<br />Attends meetings as requested by Fire, EMS, Hospital, Public Health, Social Services,
<br />Congregate Care Facilities, and cltizen groups as an Information resource.
<br />Performs other related duties as required.
<br />MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
<br />Requires a Bachelor's degree in planning, public administration, or other relevant field
<br />supplemented by six to nine years of experience in emergency services, emergency planning
<br />and /or emergency communications, or any equivalent combination of training and experience
<br />which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities,
<br />SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
<br />Must have a Certified Emergency Manager - International Association of Emergency Managers
<br />and Community Preparedness and Disaster Management certification
<br />MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR STANDARDS REQUIRED

<br />Physical Reouirements: Most tasks Involve the ability to exert moderate, though not constant
<br />physical effort, typically involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching and
