<br />government to ensure a prompt and effective response to all event that have the potential to
<br />affect the citizens of Lee County such as fire, hazardous materials, nuclear, search and rescue,
<br />severe weather, terrorist use of a weapon of mass destruction, civil disorder, evacuation, shelter,
<br />mass transportation, mass casualty, mass fatality, etc.; ensures operational readiness of
<br />emergency /disaster equipment and systems such as the Hams Nuclear Facility Siren Activation
<br />System, the Emergency Alert System, and Community Alert Network telephone notification
<br />system.
<br />Develops policies, procedures, and Standard Operating Guidelines to be used by department
<br />staff and all emergency response agencies, such as dispatch protocols, radio use protocols,
<br />radiological event response, mass decontamination, bloodborne pathogen, hazard
<br />communication, etc.
<br />Develops and maintains a great working relationship with State and Federal officials; represents
<br />the County of Lee as the primary Interface for resource request and use from the State and
<br />Federal government for response and recovery operations,
<br />Interviews, hires, develops, educates, supervises, and directs the staff of the Office of Emergency
<br />Services; develops and manages the department budget to ensure efficient and effective use of
<br />funds; Implements and nurtures innovative ideas and equipment that will batter prepare the ability
<br />to respond to and recoverfrom significant emergencies and disasters.
<br />Develops plans according to local, State, and Federal guidance and requirements such as
<br />Hazard Mltfgatton Plan, Continuity of Operations/Confinuity of Government Plan, Emergency
<br />Operations Plan, and Hams Nuclear facility Plan.
<br />Builds local, State, and Federal relationships by meeting with and developing other agency
<br />capabilities that will enable their self-sufficiency and add to the resources for Lee County to use
<br />during emergencies and disasters such as businessfindustry hazmat teams, LEPC, Alternate
<br />Care, Congregate Care, hospital, Public Health, etc.
<br />Responds effectively to request for assistance that isn't typically associated with Emergency
<br />Service activities such as information sharing, knowing what or who to call, how to dispose of
<br />hazardous materials and substances, what training opportunities are available, air-
<br />Receives and/or reviews various records and reports including training and equipment needs of
<br />emergency workers, Harris Nuclear Facility status, State and Federal grants, Tier II reports, and
<br />severe weather.
<br />Prepares and/or generates various records and reports including emergency operations plan,
<br />hazard mitigation plan, continuity of operations plan, comprehensive resource llst, and standard
<br />operating guidelines.
