VI.B Lee County Government Center Exterior Wall Restoration
General Services Director Russel Spivey requested the approval of a bid for the
restoration of an exterior wall at the Lee County Government Center. The exterior
wall restoration at the Lee County Government Center is needed due to severely
deteriorated mortar joists. A bid opening for the Lee County Government Center
Exterior Wall Restoration Project was held on June 16, 2020. Bids were received
from four contractors. The lowest bidder was Midwest Maintenance in the amount of
$65,315. REI Engineering firm provided documentation that the low bidding
contractor is qualified to perform the job. Midwest has supplied the necessary
performance and payment bonds.
Midwest Maintenance Inc.BOC.pdf
Bid Tabulation Sheet_Exterior Wall Restoration.pdf
Motion: Motion to approve the award of the bid and authorize the execution
of the contract with Midwest Maintenance for the Lee County Government
Center Exterior Wall Restoration in the amount of$65,315 and authorize the
Chair to execute the contract.
Mover: Robert Reives
For: 7 - Amy Dalrymple, Kevin Dodson, Arianna Del Palazzo, Dr. Andre
Knecht, Robert Reives, Cameron Sharpe, Kirk Smith
Motion Result: Passed
VI.0 Tax Collector's Annual Settlement
Tax Administrator Michael Brown stated that each year the Tax Collector must make
settlement with the governing board per NCGS 105-373. As part of the settlement, the
governing board charges the Tax Collector with collecting taxes for the current fiscal
year (FY 2021) and prior fiscal years with unpaid taxes. This charge gives the Tax
Collector the authority to use enforced collection measures and it gives legal notice that
the tax lien is first in priority. A report of all 2019 unpaid real and personal property is
available in the clerk's office and has been posted to the Commissioners'website for
review. Mr. Brown stated that the goal of collecting 99.13% came up short at 98.06%
and is thought to be due to the fact that enforced collections were halted between
March 2020 and beginning of June 2020 due to the economic impact of COVID 19.
2020 tax bills will be mailed out later this week.
Affidavit July 2020.docx
Tax Collectors Report for FY 2020.docx
Historical Chart by Year.docx
Resolution Approving the Tax Collectors Annual Settlement.docx
Order of the Board of Commissioners to Collect Taxes.docx
GS_105-373.pdf
GS_105-364.pdf
GS_105-321.pdf
Motion: Motion to accept settlement, adopt resolution and approve order
charging the Tax Collector with collecting 2020 taxes.
Mover: Arianna Del Palazzo
For: 7 - Amy Dalrymple, Kevin Dodson, Arianna Del Palazzo, Dr. Andre Knecht,
Robert Reives, Cameron Sharpe, Kirk Smith
Motion Result: Passed
