VI.B Lee County Government Center Exterior Wall Restoration General Services Director Russel Spivey requested the approval of a bid for the restoration of an exterior wall at the Lee County Government Center. The exterior wall restoration at the Lee County Government Center is needed due to severely deteriorated mortar joists. A bid opening for the Lee County Government Center Exterior Wall Restoration Project was held on June 16, 2020. Bids were received from four contractors. The lowest bidder was Midwest Maintenance in the amount of $65,315. REI Engineering firm provided documentation that the low bidding contractor is qualified to perform the job. Midwest has supplied the necessary performance and payment bonds. As part of the settlement, the governing board charges the Tax Collector with collecting taxes for the current fiscal year (FY 2021) and prior fiscal years with unpaid taxes. This charge gives the Tax Collector the authority to use enforced collection measures and it gives legal notice that the tax lien is first in priority. A report of all 2019 unpaid real and personal property is available in the clerk's office and has been posted to the Commissioners'website for review. Mr. Brown stated that the goal of collecting 99.13% came up short at 98.06% and is thought to be due to the fact that enforced collections were halted between March 2020 and beginning of June 2020 due to the economic impact of COVID 19. 2020 tax bills will be mailed out later this week.
