429 <br />10 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />THE COUNTY OF LEE, NORTH CAROLINA <br />Monday, May 17, 1982 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the <br />County of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened in the County Office Building, <br />200 Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina, on Monday, May 17, 1982, at <br />7:00 o'clock p, m. Those present were Commissione rs John E. Dotterer, Jack <br />D. Funderburke, K. S. Harmon, Lila P. Nielsen, and Gordon A. Wicker. None <br />of the Commissioners were absent. The Chairman declared a quorum present <br />and the meeting open for the transaction of business. <br />Chairman K. S. Harmon presided and the following business was <br />transacted: <br />The minutes of the meeting held on May 3, 1982, were considered <br />and corrected and as corrected, the minutes were approved and ordered recorded, <br />upon motion of Commissioner John E. Dotterer, seconded by Commissioner Lila <br />P. Nielsen, which motion was unanimously adopted upon a vote. <br />The Charman advised the Board that representatives. of the Depart- <br />ment of Transportation wanted to meet with the Board'on June 8, 1982, to discuss <br />road matters. The Board concluded that June 8, 1982, was not a convenient time <br />for it and requested the Chairman to invite the Department of Transportation officials <br />to appear on June 21, 1982. <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker requested that the Division of <br />Highways take steps to make improvements to Secondary Road No. 1578. <br />Mr. Elwin J. Buchanan, Grants Director, appeared before the <br />Board and asked approval of his Department's contract with the Johnston-Lee <br />Community Action Agency to conduct a survey of families in the Deep River area <br />along the site of the proposed extension of the water line for use in submitting to <br />HUD to determine eligibility of the project with such extension included in it. <br />Commissioner Jack D. Funderburke moved that the contract be approved and Comm- <br />issioner John E. Dotterer seconded the motion and upon a vote the motion was <br />unanimously adopted. <br />
