Poi 435 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />J <br />FOR <br />THE COUNTY OF LEE, NORTH CAROLINA <br />Monday, June 7, 1982 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the <br />County of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened in the County Office <br />Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina, on Monday, June <br />7, 1982, at 9:30 o'clock a.m. Those present were Commissioners John E. <br />Dotterer, Jack D. Funderburke, K.S. Harmon, Lila P. Nielsen, and Gordon <br />A. Wicker. None of the Commissioners were absent. The Chairman declared <br />a quorum present and the meeting open for the transaction of business. <br />Church. <br />The invocation was given by Rev. Al Cone of Salem Presbyterian <br />Chairman K.S. Harmon presided and the following business was <br />transacted: <br />The minutes of the meeting held on May 17th, 1982, were con- <br />sidered and were approved upon motion of Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker, <br />seconded by Commissioner Jack D. Funderburke, which motion was unanimously <br />adopted upon a vote. <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker requested that the Department of <br />Transportation be contacted to request that SR 1561 (Pierce Road) be <br />asphalted to serve approximately 6 homes for .23 of a mile. Commissioner <br />Jack D. Funderburke also requested that the Department of Transportation <br />be contacted concerning several other matters that have come to his <br />attention. First is the water drainage damage to Gerrard Medlin's pro- <br />perty. Second, a ditch on each side of the Deep River - Osgood Rest Home <br />Road that has washed out and needs work. Commissioner Funderburke also <br />informed the Board that an individual's property on Highway #1 needs'to <br />be cleared of junk cars. Chairman Harmon commented that nothing could be <br />done about this property until a countywide junk car ordinance is adopted. <br />Commissioner Wicker requested that the Department of Transportation be <br />contacted concerninq the bridge at San-Lee Park which is almost unpassable <br />by two cars at the same time. The Chairman directed the County Manager to <br />contact the Department of Transportation concerning the above items and <br />also reminded the Board.that the roads meeting is scheduled for June 21st <br />at 7 430 p.m. <br />County Manager, Walter B. Hartman, Jr.', presented to the Board <br />the proposed budget for FY 1982-83. After some discussion, Commissioner <br />Dotterer moved that the budget be acknowledged as received by the Board <br />and that a Public Hearing be scheduled for the next regular meeting. <br />Commissioner Nielsen suggested that the Board schedule a work session <br />on the budget for sometime next week.
