® ~66K 10 ?ACE 464 Mr. Larry Jones appeared before the Board to express his concern that more work needs to be done on the elementary schools in Lee County. He also expressed his concern over the personnel cutbacks and suggested that the commissioners set aside $1 million dollars each year for capital outlay for the schools. Mr. Barry Jackson, Secretary-Treasurer of the Deep River Fire Department, appeared before the Board to express his support for the fire districts in Lee County. The Chairman asked for any further comments from those who attended and since there were no other persons who wished to speak, he declared the public hearing closed and thanked those who attended. The Board next considered appointments to the various boards and commissions for persons whose terms expire on June 30th, 1982. The appointments made are as follows: It was unanimously adopted to appoint Mr. W.M. Womble, Sr., and Mr. Harold Kelly to another 3 year term on the Sanford Lee County Airport Commission by motion of Commissioner Dotterer, seconded by Commissioner Funderburke. Upon motion of Commissioner Nielsen, seconded by Commissioner Funderburke, Mrs. Joyce Gupton was appointed to serve a two-year term on the Emergency Medical Council, which motion was unanimously adopted. Upon motion of Commissioner Funderburke, seconded',by Commissioner Nielsen, Mr. Clyde Rhyne, Mr. Hal Siler and Mr. J.F. Hockaday were re- appointed for a two-year term on the Industrial Development Corporation Board of Directors, which motion was unanimously adopted. Upon motion of Commissioner Dotterer, seconded by Commissioner Wicker, Mr. Bill Wilson was appointed to a four-year term on the Lee- Harnett Mental Health Board, which motion was unanimously adopted. Upon motion of Commissioner Dotterer, seconded by Commissioner Nielsen, Mrs. Edith Makepeace, Mrs. Isabell Lawrence, and Mr. Terry Peeves were reappointed for a three-year term on the Library Board of Trustees, which motion was unanimously adopted. Upon motion of Commissioner Nielsen, seconded by Commissioner Wicker, Mrs. Diane Lamb of the DSS was appointed to serve on the Nursing Home Advisory Committee to replace Mrs. Judy Thomas whose term expires. Mrs. Lamb will serve until a nursing home placement employee is hired by the DSS. Upon a•vote, the motion was unanimously adopted. Upon motion. of Commissioner Dotterer, seconded by Commissioner Funderburke, Mr. Mike Womble and Mr. Howard McGinn were reappointed to a three-year term on the Personnel Board, which motion was unanimously adopted.
