® ~66K 10 ?ACE 464 <br />Mr. Larry Jones appeared before the Board to express his <br />concern that more work needs to be done on the elementary schools in <br />Lee County. He also expressed his concern over the personnel cutbacks <br />and suggested that the commissioners set aside $1 million dollars each <br />year for capital outlay for the schools. <br />Mr. Barry Jackson, Secretary-Treasurer of the Deep River Fire <br />Department, appeared before the Board to express his support for the <br />fire districts in Lee County. <br />The Chairman asked for any further comments from those who <br />attended and since there were no other persons who wished to speak, <br />he declared the public hearing closed and thanked those who attended. <br />The Board next considered appointments to the various boards <br />and commissions for persons whose terms expire on June 30th, 1982. The <br />appointments made are as follows: <br />It was unanimously adopted to appoint Mr. W.M. Womble, Sr., and <br />Mr. Harold Kelly to another 3 year term on the Sanford Lee County Airport <br />Commission by motion of Commissioner Dotterer, seconded by Commissioner <br />Funderburke. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Nielsen, seconded by Commissioner <br />Funderburke, Mrs. Joyce Gupton was appointed to serve a two-year term <br />on the Emergency Medical Council, which motion was unanimously adopted. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Funderburke, seconded',by Commissioner <br />Nielsen, Mr. Clyde Rhyne, Mr. Hal Siler and Mr. J.F. Hockaday were re- <br />appointed for a two-year term on the Industrial Development Corporation <br />Board of Directors, which motion was unanimously adopted. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Dotterer, seconded by Commissioner <br />Wicker, Mr. Bill Wilson was appointed to a four-year term on the Lee- <br />Harnett Mental Health Board, which motion was unanimously adopted. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Dotterer, seconded by Commissioner <br />Nielsen, Mrs. Edith Makepeace, Mrs. Isabell Lawrence, and Mr. Terry Peeves <br />were reappointed for a three-year term on the Library Board of Trustees, <br />which motion was unanimously adopted. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Nielsen, seconded by Commissioner <br />Wicker, Mrs. Diane Lamb of the DSS was appointed to serve on the Nursing <br />Home Advisory Committee to replace Mrs. Judy Thomas whose term expires. <br />Mrs. Lamb will serve until a nursing home placement employee is hired by <br />the DSS. Upon a•vote, the motion was unanimously adopted. <br />Upon motion. of Commissioner Dotterer, seconded by Commissioner <br />Funderburke, Mr. Mike Womble and Mr. Howard McGinn were reappointed to <br />a three-year term on the Personnel Board, which motion was unanimously adopted. <br />
