3obK 10 P„r,E X63 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />THE COUNTY OF LEE, NORTH CAROLINA <br />Monday, June 21, 1982 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the <br />County of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened in the County Office <br />Building; 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina, on Monday, June <br />21, 1982, at 7:00 o'clock p.m. Those present were Commissioners John E. <br />Dotterer, Jack D. Funderburke, K.S. Harmon, Lila P. Nielsen, and Gordon <br />A. Wicker. None of the Commissioners were absent. The Chairman declared <br />a quorum present and the meeting open for the transaction of business. <br />The invocation was given by Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen <br />Chairman K.S. Harmon presided and the following business was <br />transacted: <br />The minutes of the meeting held on June 7, 1982, were con- <br />sidered and were approved upon motion of Commission Jack Funderburke, <br />seconded by Commissioner John E. Dotterer, which motion was unanimously <br />adopted upon a vote. <br />Mrs. Bert Matthews, Chairman of the Planning Board, appeared <br />before the Board to present the preliminary plat for the Highland Woods <br />Section of Carolina Trace. Upon motion of Commissioner Funderburke, <br />seconded by Commissioner Dotterer, the preliminary plat was approved <br />unanimously. <br />Mrs. Matthews also presented to the Board the final plat for <br />the Highland Woods Section of Carolina Trace. Upon motion of Commissioner <br />Lila P. Nielsen, seconded by Commissioner Funderburke, the final plat <br />was approved unanimously. <br />Chairman Harmon declared the Public Hearing on the proposed budget <br />for fiscal year 1982-83 open to anyone who wished to speak. The Chairman <br />read a letter received from Mrs. Marion Martin on the Mary Margaret McLeod <br />Home. <br />Mr. William Johnson, Superintendent of the Lee County Schools, <br />spoke on behalf of the Lee County Board of Education to express their concern <br />over the proposed budget allocation to the schools. Mr. Johnson asked the <br />Board to consider funding the revised budget as proposed by the schools. <br />Mrs. Celia Dickerson, gifted and talented teacher, spoke to the <br />Board to request that they adequately fund pay for teachers and fund an <br />adequate amount for improving or constructing buildings. <br />
