3obK 10 P„r,E X63 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR THE COUNTY OF LEE, NORTH CAROLINA Monday, June 21, 1982 The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened in the County Office Building; 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina, on Monday, June 21, 1982, at 7:00 o'clock p.m. Those present were Commissioners John E. Dotterer, Jack D. Funderburke, K.S. Harmon, Lila P. Nielsen, and Gordon A. Wicker. None of the Commissioners were absent. The Chairman declared a quorum present and the meeting open for the transaction of business. The invocation was given by Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen Chairman K.S. Harmon presided and the following business was transacted: The minutes of the meeting held on June 7, 1982, were con- sidered and were approved upon motion of Commission Jack Funderburke, seconded by Commissioner John E. Dotterer, which motion was unanimously adopted upon a vote. Mrs. Bert Matthews, Chairman of the Planning Board, appeared before the Board to present the preliminary plat for the Highland Woods Section of Carolina Trace. Upon motion of Commissioner Funderburke, seconded by Commissioner Dotterer, the preliminary plat was approved unanimously. Mrs. Matthews also presented to the Board the final plat for the Highland Woods Section of Carolina Trace. Upon motion of Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen, seconded by Commissioner Funderburke, the final plat was approved unanimously. Chairman Harmon declared the Public Hearing on the proposed budget for fiscal year 1982-83 open to anyone who wished to speak. The Chairman read a letter received from Mrs. Marion Martin on the Mary Margaret McLeod Home. Mr. William Johnson, Superintendent of the Lee County Schools, spoke on behalf of the Lee County Board of Education to express their concern over the proposed budget allocation to the schools. Mr. Johnson asked the Board to consider funding the revised budget as proposed by the schools. Mrs. Celia Dickerson, gifted and talented teacher, spoke to the Board to request that they adequately fund pay for teachers and fund an adequate amount for improving or constructing buildings.
