sonK 10 ?l.CE 468 <br />MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING <br />OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR THE <br />COUNTY OF LEE, NORTH CAROLINA <br />Wednesday, June 23rd, 1982 <br />The adjourned regular meeting of the Board of County Commissioners <br />for the County of Lee, convened in the Commissioners Room on the second floor of <br />the County Office Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina, at 200 <br />Wicker Street., Sanford, North Carolina, at 2:00 o'clock p: m.*, in*'acco.rdance with <br />the motion of adjournment; Those present when the meeting was called.to order <br />were Commissioners John.E. Dotterer, Jack D. Funderburke, K. S. Harmon, <br />Lila P.. Nielsen, and Gordon A. Wicker; None of the Commissioners were absent. <br />Chairman K. S.' Harmon presided and the 'following business was <br />transacted: <br />.The County Manager, Mr. Walter B. Hartman, Jr. , was recognized <br />and he reviewed the budget,he had prepared and in particular, he discussed a pro- <br />vision for the schools. After an extended discussion on the school matter, the <br />Board discussed the pay scales and travel allowances. Commissioner John E. <br />Dotterer moved that the budget resolution prepared by the County Manager for the <br />fiscal year beginning July 1, 1982, a copy of which is attached hereto and by this <br />reference incorporated herein, together with the pay plan used in the preparation <br />of said budget, be adopted. Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen seconded the motion <br />and upon a roll call vote, Commissioners Dotterer, Funderburke, Nielsen,. Wicker <br />and Harmon voted for it and no one voted against it. The Chairman declared the <br />budget duly adopted and instructed the County Manager to distribute copies for the <br />guidance of the. County Departments and Agencies. <br />The County Manager discussed with the Board the recently enacted <br />legislation which has been codified as G. S. 128-30(b1), which allows participating <br />employers in the North Carolina Local Governmental Employees' Retirement <br />System to elect a method of income tax sheltering the retirement contributions of <br />employees. 'After discussion, upon motion of Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker and <br />seconded by Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen, the resolution entitled "Resolution To <br />Elect A Tax Shelter Of Employees' Contributions Payable As Members Of The North <br />Carolina Local Governmental Employees' Retirement System", a copy of which is <br />attached hereto and by this reference incorporated herein, was introduced and <br />adopted. The number voting in the affirmative was "five" and the number voting <br />in the negative was "0". <br />
