10 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR'MEETING <br />OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />THE COUNTY OF LEE, NORTH CAROLINA <br />Tuesday, July '6th, 1982:1 f <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County <br />of Lee, convened in the Commissioners Room on the second floor of the County <br />Office Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolinat, at 200 Wicker Street, <br />Sanford, North Carolina, on Tuesday, July 6th, 1982, at 9:30 o'clock a. m. <br />Monday, July 5th, 1982, was observed as a holiday since Monday, July 4th fell on a <br />Sunday. Those present when the meeting convened were Commissioners John E. <br />Dotterer, Jack D. Funderburke, Lila P. Nielsen, K. S. Harmon and Gordon A. <br />Wicker. None of the Commissioners were absent. Chairman K. S. Harmon pre- <br />sided and the following business was transacted: <br />The invocation was given by the Reverend Tom Coye, Pastor of the <br />St. Andrews Presbyterian Church. <br />The minutes of the meetings held on June 21st and 23rd, were <br />reviewed and discussed and amended and as amended, the minutes were approved <br />and ordered recorded, upon motion of Commissioner John E. Dotterer, which <br />motion was seconded by Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen and unanimously adopted <br />upon a vote. <br />A group of students from Deep River School, accompanied by Dr. <br />Russ Marion, Principal, appeared before the Board and presented "thank you notes" <br />.from the students, to the Board. The notes expressed appreciation for the County's <br />efforts in extending a water line to the Deep River School. The letters were delivered <br />to the Grants Director for inclusion with the file on that project. <br />Mr. Elwin J. Buchanan, Grants Director, appeared before the Board <br />and reviewed a report of his agency's activities. <br />Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen moved that the County employ James <br />B. Godwin and Assocates, Inc. , to assist in the preparation of an application for a <br />grant under. the North Carolina Small Cities Development Block Grant Program,, for <br />a fee of $6', 500. 00, and that the sum of $3, 000. 00 be appropriated from the Contingency <br />Fund for such purpose. Commissioner Jack D. Funderburke seconded the motion and <br />upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />Commissioner John E. Dotterer moved that the County advertise <br />for bids for the construction of approximately 2100 feet of 6 inch ductal iron pipe <br />water line as part of the Deep River School water line extension and Secondary Road <br />
