- <br />qnp'{ ~.0 i't t ov, <br />MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING OF THE <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />THE COUNTY OF LEE, NORTH CAROLINA <br />J Friday, July 9th, 1982 <br />The Special Meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the <br />County of Lee, convened in the Commissioners Room in the County Office <br />Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina, at 8 o'clock p. m. , on <br />Friday, July 9th, 1982, the same being the time, date and place specified in <br />the call issued by the Chairman. Present were Commissioners John E. Dotterer, <br />Jack D. Funderburke, K. S. Harmon, Lila P. Nielsen and Gordon A,. Wicker. <br />None of the Commissioners were absent. <br />Chairman K. S. Harmon presided and the following business was <br />transacted: <br />The Chairman made a statement and identified the representative <br />of the Mental Health Authority and representatives from the State Department. Mr. <br />Elmore of the Mental Health Department reviewed the activities of the Mental Health <br />Department about the, establishment of the home. The floor was open to all interested <br />citizens to make statements concerning the Willie M Home and to ask questions of <br />the various parties. After the interested citizens spoke, Mrs. Laura Winslow of the <br />Division of Mental Health, spoke. The establishment of the Willie M Homes is a <br />state mandated program instituted as a result of litigation in the Federal Courts <br />and which was located in Lee County, at the direction of the State Division of <br />Mental Health. The program is operated by the Lutheran Families Services as a con- <br />tract supplier of services and the operation of the local home is monitored by both <br />the local Mental Health Authority and the State Department.
