COOK 10 <br />Mr. Leonard Barefoot, Planner, appeared before the Board and <br />reported to the Board that the Carolina Trace Corporation had requested that the <br />performance guarantee for the Woodfield Section of Carolina Trace Subdivision, <br />be extended for a period of one year. Commissioner Jack D. Funderburke moved <br />that the request for the one year extension be approved. Commissioner Lila P. <br />Nielsen seconded the motion and upon a vote, the resolution was unanimously <br />adopted. <br />Mr. Nathan Crissman, Tax Collector, requested authority to use the <br />in rem method of tax foreclosure. Commissioner John E. Dotterer moved that <br />the Tax Collector be authorized and directed to begin advertisement of delinquent <br />taxes in February, with the understanding that he would not begin garnishments until <br />after the advertisements were made. Commissioner Jack D. Funderburke seconded <br />the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />The County Manager, Walter B. Hartman, Jr. , brought to the <br />Board's attention the question of changing the County's sick leave policy. The <br />County Manager's recommendation was that the sick leave policy be amended to <br />permit a transfer of up to 40 hours of accumulated sick leave when an employee <br />transfers to Lee County for employment. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved <br />that the County Manager's recommendation be accepted and the sick leave policy be <br />amended, accordingly. Commissioner John E. Dotterer seconded the motion and upon <br />a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />The Board next proceeded to receive and open bids for the purchase <br />of a truck for use by the Inspection Department. The bids received, with taxes, <br />were as follows: Womble Chevrolet Company - $7, 930. 00; Mid-State Ford - <br />$8, 690. 00; and Slate Chrysler-Plymouth - $8, 515. 24. The bids were taken under <br />advisement and no action was taken at this meeting. <br />The request by the Local Chapter of the Red Cross for space in the <br />old hospital building was considered and the County Manager and Commissioner <br />Nielsen were requested to investigate the matter and to report their recommendations <br />to the Board. <br />Ms. Kay Johnson, appeared before the Board on behalf of the Board <br />of Elections, and reported that qualified petitions had been received for elections <br />in the Lemon Springs, Tramway and West Sanford Fire Districts. The Board of <br />Elections recommended that the election be held on September 28, 1982; however, <br />the Board, after discussion, decided to set the election at the same time as the <br />general election on November 2nd, 1982. Commissioner John E. Dotterer moved <br />the adoption of the following resolution: <br />WHEREAS, petitions have been presented to the <br />Board of Commissioners for Lee County, requesting that <br />an election be called to establish a rural fire protection <br />district in the Lemon Springs, Tramway and West Sanford <br />Fire Districts; and <br />
