600K 10 ?ACE 544 <br />Mr. Leonard Barefoot, County Planner, appeared before the <br />Board and presented for consideration the final plat of the John Z. Matthews <br />subdivision, which had been approved by the County Planning Board. After <br />discussion and review, Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved that the plat be <br />given final approval. Commissioner Jack D. Funderburke seconded the motion <br />and upon a vote, it was unanimously adopted. <br />Mr. Elwin Buchanan, Grants Administrator, appeared before the <br />Board and reviewed his monthly report. Mr. Buchanan requested that the Board <br />extend the completion date of the contract between the County and James Godwin <br />and Associates, dated November 3, 1980, for planning services in connection <br />with block grant from September 30, 1982, until September 30,19 83. Comm- <br />issioner Jack D. Funderburke moved that the request for extension be approved <br />and the Chairman be authorized to execute an amendment to that effect. Comm- <br />issioner Lila P. Nielsen seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously <br />adopted. <br />Mr. Elwin Buchanan presented for consideration, a resolution <br />authorizing the submission of an amended application for Community Development <br />Block Grant funds. After discussion, Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved <br />that the resolution authorizing the application, a copy of which is attached hereto <br />and by this reference made a part hereof, be adopted. Commissioner Jack D. <br />Funderburke seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />The Board next considered the bids that had been received for the <br />purchase of a new truck for the inspection department. The County Manager <br />reported that the one draw back to the low bidder's proposition was that the time of <br />delivery would be delayed due to the year model of the truck. The County Manager <br />reported the low bidder had located a 1982 model truck that would be immediately <br />available; however, it had optional equipment that was not originally included in the <br />bid specifications. The County.Manager reported that the purchase of these optional <br />items would raise the low bid by $350. 00 but it would still be $200. 00 cheaper than <br />the next lowest bid from the other vendors. Commissioner Jack D. Funderburke <br />moved that the low bid of Womble Chevrolet be accepted for the 1982 truck at a <br />cost of $8, 278. 37, which includes $120. 00 sales tax. Commissioner Gordon A. <br />Wicker seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />The County Manager reported that there were various items of <br />equipment which the County needs to dispose of and that the Health Department <br />had requested that the County assist it in disposing of some surplus equipment that <br />it has. <br />Commissioner Gordon A.
