10 W <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF <br />J THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />THE COUNTY OF LEE, NORTH CAROLINA <br />Tuesday, September 7th, 1982 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the <br />County of Lee, convened in the Commissioners Room on the second floor of the <br />County Office Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina, on Tuesday, <br />September 7, 1982, at 9:30 o'clock a. m. Monday, September 6, 1982, was <br />observed as Labor Day, a legal holiday, and the meeting was held on the next <br />succeeding day. Those present were Commissioners Jack D. Funderburke, <br />K. S. Harmon, Lila P. Nielsen, and Gordon A. Wicker. Commissioner John E. <br />Dotterer was absent. <br />Chairman X. S. Harmon presided and the following business was <br />transacted: <br />The invocation was given by County Manager, Mr. Walter B. <br />Hartman, Jr. <br />The minutes of the regular meeting held on August 16, 1982, were <br />considered and discussed. The reference to Mr, Billy Ray Cameron, was amended <br />and corrected to reflect his election as Junior Vice Commander of the Veterans <br />of Foreign Wars. As corrected, the minutes were approved and ordered recorded, <br />upon motion of Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen, seconded by Commissioner Jack <br />D. Funderburke, which motion was unanimously adopted upon a vote. <br />Road matters were discussed and Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker <br />reported he had received several calls on the bridge on the road near San-Lee <br />Park, No road petitions were presented. <br />The request of the Deep River Rural Fire Department for paving <br />the entryway to the new fire station at the intersection of Secondary Road No. 1466 <br />(old U. S. Highway No. 1) and Secondary Road No. 1423, was presented to the <br />Board. Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen moved that the Board approve the request <br />of the Deep River Fire Department for paving the entrance to its new fire station <br />and request the Highway Division of the Department of Transportation to do said <br />work. Commissioner Jack D. Funderburke seconded the motion and upon a vote, <br />it was unanimously adopted. <br />The Board had an extended discussion about road matters but no <br />formal action was taken. <br />
