® ,
BOOK D Pta 557'
Mr. Taylor Uzzell and Mr. F. Jefferson Ward, Jr. , Members
of the Sanford Kiwanis Club, appeared before the Board and discussed a proposal
to establish a Kiwanis Family Park on land presently owned by the County across
from N. C. 42 or Wicker Street adjacent to the lands presently used by the Central
Carolina Technical College as a pasture for livestock. Following an extended
discussion, Commissioner John E. Dotterer moved that the Board go on record
as endorsing the project for the Kiwanis Family Park and that the County Manager
and County Attorney be directed to draft for consideration by the Board, a
contract to accomplish such purpose and to authorize the County Manager and
the County officers to publish such advertisements as may be required to carry
out the execution of the contract so drafted.
Commissioner Jack D. Funderburke seconded the motion and
upon a vote it was unanimously adopted.
The County Manager, Walter B. Hartman, Jr. , called the Board's
attention to the letter received from the Superintendent of the Lee County School
Board requesting $15, 967. 00 from the Lee County Board of Commissioners, for
funding of their projected energy costs.
There being no further business to come before the session, it
was adjourned sine die.
CHAIRMAN
CLERK
