Buchanan, Grants Administrator, appeared before <br />the Board and advised the Board that he had received Amendment No. 1 Approval <br />Request, pertaining to Airport Project No. 5-37-0065-02, which would provide <br />an additional $6, 773. 00, for use by the County on that project. Commissioner <br />Jack D. Funderburke moved that the amendment no. 1 to grant agreement for <br />Project 5-37-0065-02, be approved, and that the officers of the County be authorized <br />and directed to sign said grant agreement amendment. Commissioner Lila P. <br />Nielsen seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />Mrs. Walter Thomas from Pocket Township, appeared before the <br />Board, and expressed her feelings concerning the continued maintenance of the <br />Willie M Home; in her community. She requested that the Board provide their <br />community with whatever assistance it could give to have the home removed from <br />their community. Among those speaking was Reverend Boles, Pastor of the <br />Presbyterian Church, who also asked that all steps be taken to have the Willie M <br />Home removed from its present location in Pocket Township. <br />The Board next considered the request for refund by Lacy and <br />Gladys McCann, on property which they had sold to G. D. Oldham in 1950 but <br />had been erroneously listed in their names in 1981 and 1982. The Board, upon <br />motion of Commissioner John E. Dotterer, which motion was duly seconded by <br />Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen and upon a vote unanimously adopted, resolved <br />to authorize the refund of $20. 57 for 1981 taxes and $16.42 for 1982 taxes, to <br />Lacy and Gladys McCann. <br />The County Manager, Walter B. Hartman, Jr. , presented to the <br />Board, for its consideration, a resolution providing for the establishment of <br />Fire/Service Districts in Lee County. The matter was discussed at length, <br />following which Commissioner John E. Dotterer moved that the resolution entitled <br />"Resolution of the Board of Commissioners of Lee County Providing for the <br />establishment of Fire/Service Districts in Lee County", a copy of which is <br />attached hereto and by this reference made a part hereof be adopted and that <br />all prior resolutions in conflict therewith be repealed. Commissioner Jack D. <br />Funderburke seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />The County Manager reported that the Lee County Youth Services <br />Commission, had reported that Mrs. Donna Goodwin had resigned from the <br />commission, effective 9-1-82, and it had requested the appointment of Mrs. Mary <br />Wallace, to the commission. Commissioner John E. Dotterer moved that Mrs. <br />Mary Wallace be appointed to the Lee County Youth Commission to fill the unexpired <br />term of Mrs. Donna Goodwin, who has resigned. Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen <br />seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />
