1A 5s8 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR THE COUNTY <br />OF LEE, NORTH CAROLINA <br />Monday, October 4, 1982 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County <br />of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened in the Commissioners' Room, second <br />floor, County Office Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina, on <br />Monday, October 4, 1982, at 9:30 o'clock a. m. Those present were Commissioners <br />John E. Dotterer, Jack D. Funderburke, K. S. Harmon, Lila P. Nielsen,.and Gordon <br />A. Wicker. <br />Chairman K. S. Harmon presided and the following business was <br />transacted: <br />Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen gave the invocation. <br />Commissioner John E. Dotterer moved that the draft of the minutes <br />for the regular meeting held on September 20, 1982, as submitted to the Board, be <br />approved and adopted as and for the official minutes of said meeting and be recorded <br />in the Minute Book. Commissioner Jack D. Funderburke seconded the motion and upon <br />a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />Mr. Leonard Barefoot, County Planner, presented to the Board a <br />petition from the residents on Shannon Drive and Botany Woods Drive asking that the <br />roads be added to the state system of secondary roads. Mr. Barefoot reported that <br />he had ascertained that all property owners had signed the petition. Commissioner <br />Gordon A. Wicker moved that the resolution requesting that the two named roads be <br />added to the state system of secondary roads, a copy of which is attached hereto and <br />by this reference made a part hereof, be adopted with the proviso that said roads must <br />first meet state specifications. Commissioner John E. Dotterer seconded the motion <br />and upon a vote, it was unanimously adopted. <br />Mr. Billy Ray Cameron, Director of Civil Preparedness and Emergency <br />Management, appeared before the Board and was presented with a framed copy of the <br />resolution adopted by the Board on September 7, 1982, honoring him for his achieve- <br />ment,in being elected Junior Vice Chairman of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Chair- <br />man K. S. Harmon made the presentation on behalf of the Board. <br />Mr. Elwin J. Buchanan, Grants Administrator, appeared before the <br />Board and reviewed his written report on the projects currently being supervised by <br />his office. Mr. Buchanan presented a change order to the Deep River School Water- <br />line contract which added $1,495. 00 to the.cost for additions in the Cedar Lake area. <br />
