Afik <br />0 <br />BOOK 1O P?,(,E 564 <br />County's books for the year ending June 30, 1983. Commissioner Gordon A. <br />Wicker moved that the County employ the firm of Deloitte Haskins & Sells, Certified <br />Public Accountants, to audit the books for the County and to prepare financial <br />statements for the year ending June 30, 1983, and that the Chairman be authorized <br />to execute the contract for and on behalf of the County. Commissioner Lila P. <br />Nielsen seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />The County Manager, Mr. Walter B. Hartman, Jr. , presented two <br />budget amendments for consideration by the Board. The matters were reviewed <br />and discussed, following which Commissioner John E. Dotterer moved that the <br />budget amendment entitled "Appripriation Adjustment #82101805", and the budget <br />amendment entitled "Appropriation Adjustment #8210180611, copies of which are <br />attached hereto and by this reference made a part hereof, be approved and adopted. <br />Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimous- <br />ly adopted. <br />Mrs. Pat Sprouse, President of the San-Lee Humane Society, <br />appeared before the Board and requested permission for the Society to assist <br />the City and County with the animal adoption procedures carried out in the facility <br />at Central Carolina Technical College. Mrs. Sprouse presented a set of suggested <br />standards for adoption of pets from the animal shelter, a copy of which is attached <br />to these minutes and by this reference made a part hereof. Mrs. Sprouse.further <br />requested assistance in obtaining a site for a desk and telephone for the representa- <br />tive of the Humane Society to use in working with the dog pound. Others who spoke <br />on behalf of the Society were Dr. Ron Myers, Mr. Tom Johnson, District Health <br />Officer, and Dr. Dean Kesler. Commissioner John E. Dotterer moved that the <br />Board adopt the standards for adoption of pets from the animal shelter as suggested <br />by the Humane Society, and that the Board hopes that Central Carolina Technical <br />College will be able to work out the space problems with the Humane Society. <br />Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unani- <br />mously adopted. <br />An amendment to the County Personnel Policies to clarify that <br />cummulative years of service applied while in the employ of Lee County, was <br />presented to the Board and discussed. Commissioner John E. Dotterer moved <br />that Article 1, Section 3, of the County Personnel Policies be amended to add sub- <br />paragraph (n), defining years of aggregate service in the manner and form shown <br />on the amendment attached to these minutes, which amendment is incorporated <br />herein. Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen seconded the motion and upon a vote it was <br />unanimously adopted. <br />
