He recommended the
purchase of seven used vehicles and thereafter, the replacement of five vehicles
a year. This would allow each deputy to be assigned a vehicle and be charged with
its maintenance. After extended discussion by the Board, Commissioner Jack D.
Funderburke moved that the Board appropriate $30, 000. 00 from the Contingency
Fund to the Sheriff's Department for the purpose of purchasing seven vehicles.
Commissioner John E. Dotterer seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimous-
ly adopted.
Sheriff Billy Bryant thanked the Board for its cooperation and
assistance to him in the performance of his duties since his appointment.
County Manager Walter B. Hartman, Jr. , reported on his negot-
iations to provide space for the Humane Society on the campus of Central Carolina
Technical College.
There being no further business to come before the session, it
was adjourned sine die.
K.
