4 <br />no;< 10 578 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR THE COUNTY <br />OF LEE, NORTH CAROLINA <br />Y <br />Monday, November 1st, 1982 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County <br />of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened in the Commissioners' Room, second <br />floor, County Office Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina, on <br />Monday, November 1, 1982, at 9:30 o'clock a, m. Those present were Commiss- <br />ioners John E. Dotterer, Jack D. Funderburke, K. S. Harmon, Lila P. Nielsen, <br />and Gordon A. Wicker. The Chairman declared a quorum to be present and the <br />meeting open for the transaction of business. <br />Chairman K..S. Harmon presided and the following business was <br />transacted: <br />The invocation was given by the Reverend Mary Johns, Pastor of the <br />Vass & Manly Presbyterian Church. <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved that the minutes of the <br />a regular meeting held on October 18, 1982, be approved and ordered recorded. <br />Commissioner Lila P. Nielsen seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unani- <br />mously adopted. <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved that the Board request the <br />Department of Transportation to study the traffic on the Cox-Maddox Road and to <br />erect such signs as the study indicates are needed for the safety of persons using <br />said road. Commissioner Jack D. Funderburke seconded the motion and upon a vote <br />it was unanimously adopted. <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker asked that the Department of <br />Transportation be asked to reply to Mr. Paul. Williams, Route 11, Box 436, Sanford, <br />concerning the status of the requested work on Secondary Road 1146. <br />Mr. Elwin Buchanan, Grants Administrator, reviewed his report on <br />the projects supervised by his office. After discussion of the need for engineering <br />services on the San-Lee Heights Project, Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved <br />that the Board employ the firm of Miller, Williams & Works to do the engineering <br />work on the San-Lee Heights Project for a fee 'of $2, 900. 00, subject to the release <br />of funds. Commissioner John E. Dotterer seconded the motion and upon a vote it <br />was unanimously adopted. <br />
