.u0,t AGE <br />11 44-6 <br />Mr. Leonard Barefoot reported to the Board, the project <br />for the naming of the streets in the County should be completed by the next <br />meeting and that he expected to have a list for their consideration at that time. <br />The Board next considered Lee County Juvenile Restitution Program. <br />The County Attorney reported on his investigation of the program and the repre- <br />sentatives from the Lee County Youth Services appeared before the Board and <br />reported that the youthful offenders did not do any cutting of timber but would <br />load cut timber and in all respects the labor performed would in in accordance <br />with the requirements of the Child Labor Act. Commissioner Jerry M. Almond <br />moved that upon receipt of assurances that youthful offenders would not be <br />utilized in felling timber but would be used only to load cut timber and that all <br />labor would be performed in accordance with the Child Labor law or exemptions <br />completed by the appropriate authorities, that the program be approved. Comm- <br />issioner Bertha L. Matthews seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unani- <br />mously adopted. <br />The Board next took up for consideration, the appointments for the <br />Johnston-Lee Community Action, Inc., program. It was reported to the Board <br />that the by-laws of the agency required that three Commissioners be appointed <br />to the governing board of the agency and that each Commissioner has the privilege <br />to select a person of his, or her choice to serve in the Commissioner's place. It <br />was then resolved that Commissioners Almond, Dossenbach and Matthews would <br />serve on the governing body of the Johnston-Lee Community Action, Inc. <br />The Board directed the County Manager to see if stands could be <br />provided for microphones for use by the general public who are in attendance at <br />commission meetings. <br />A Budget Ordinance from the Sanford-Lee County Airport Comm- <br />ission pertaining to transfer of funds to pay for preliminary engineering costs <br />relating to the construction of and lighting of taxi-way at the Sanford-Lee County <br />Airport, was presented to the Board. Commissioner Jerry M. Almond moved <br />that the Budget Ordinance, a copy of which is attached to these minutes and by <br />this reference made a part hereof, be approved and the transfers authorized. <br />Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr. , seconded the motion and upon a vote <br />it was unanimously adopted. <br />It was reported to the Board that the Federal funding sources <br />for the Council On Aging are changing their budget year back to a July 1st <br />beginning and therefore they have submitted a request as to the commitment for <br />financial support which the County will provide. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker <br />moved that the commitment of financial support, a copy of which is attached hereto, <br />be executed by the Chairman for and on behalf of the County. Commissioner Jerry <br />M. Almond seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />
