NOOK it ?;,GE 72 <br />RESOLUTION OF THE LEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />CONCERNING THE LEE COUNTY BUDGET FOR FISCAL YEAR 1983-84 <br />WHEREAS, the Lee County Board of Commissioners has determined it to <br />be in the best interest of the county to establish guidelines for use by <br />the County Manager in preparation of the budget for fiscal year 1983-84, <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the establishment of such guidelines will promote more <br />efficient public policy-making and development on the part of the Board <br />of Commissioners, and <br />WHEREAS, economic conditions in Lee County are such as to make any <br />increase in taxes for this fiscal year burdensome on the citizens of Lee <br />County, and <br />WHEREAS, public safety and protection is, and must remain, sufficient to <br />provide adequate protection to the citizens of Lee County, and <br />WHEREAS, there is a pressing need for construction and replacement of <br />various county facilities; <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the following guidelines are hereby <br />established for use by the County Manager in formulating the budget for <br />fiscal year 1983-84: <br />1. It shall be the policy of the Lee County Board of Commissioners <br />that no increase in the property tax rate will be levied during <br />fiscal year 1983-84. <br />2. That priority of expenditures will be given to improving programs <br />of public safety and protection. <br />3. That the county will strive to maintain present level of services <br />in program areas where possible. <br />4. That the County Manager shall prepare a list of alternatives for <br />possible reduction or elimination of some existing services having <br />the least impact on the health and welfare of the county's citizens. <br />5. That the current level of School Current Expense funding shall be <br />maintained. <br />6. That the County Manager will develop and present for implementation <br />a plan for funding long-range capital needs of county facilities. <br />7. That consideration will be given to the possibility of increasing <br />classroom teachers and principals salary supplements. <br />Adopted this 21st day of February 1983. <br />John E.
