ooK 1 ,E 83 LEE COUNTY ANIMAL CONTROL ORDINANCE (AS AMENDED) ARTICLE I. Sec. 1. Definitions As used in this ordinance, the following words mean: Animal Shelter: Any premises designated by the county for the purpose of impounding and caring for all animals found running at large or otherwise subject to impounding in accordance with the provisions of this ordinance. At Large: Any animal shall be deemed to be at large when he is off the property of his owner and not under the control of a competent person. Exposed to rabies: An animal has been exposed to rabies within the meaning of this ordinance, if it has been bitten by, or been exposed to, any animal known or suspected to have been infected with rabies. Kennel, dealer, breeder or pet shop: Any person, group of persons, partnership or corporation engag-e-d in buying, selling, breeding or boarding animals. Neutered male: Any male animal which has been operated upon to prevent reproduct Owner: Any person, group of persons, firm, partnership or corporation owning, keeping, having charge of, sheltering, feeding, harboring or taking care of any animal. The owner is responsible for the care, actions and behavior of his animals. Pet: A domesticated animal kept for pleasure rather than utility. Restraint: An animal is under restraint within the meaning of this ordinance if it is (a) controlled by means of a chain, leash, or other like devise; (b) sufficiently near the owner or handler to be under his direct control and is obedient to that person's commands; (c) on or within a vehicle being driven or parked; (d) within a secure enclosure; or (e) within the property limits of its owner or keeper. Spayed female: Any female animal which has been operated upon to prevent conception. Stray: Any domestic animal not under retraint and found off the property often owner. Vicious Animal: One that has made an unprovoked attack on a human or that attach farm stock and other pets.
