Buchanan, Grants Administrator, appeared before <br />the Board to discuss the 1983 Community Development Block Grant appli- <br />cation and to report the recommendations of the Community Development <br />Council regarding the application. The Community Development Council <br />recommended that an application in the approximate amount of $500,000 <br />be submitted and that the project area be the-San-Lee Heights area. <br />Commissioner Wicker moved that recommendations be approved, which <br />motion was seconded by Commissioner Matthews and upon a vote was <br />unanimously adopted. <br />Mr. William Johnson, Superintendent of Schools, and Mr. Ernest_ <br />Atkinson, Assistant Superintendent of Schools, appeared before the <br />Board to request permission to hire an architect for the Floyd L. Knight <br />School Renovation Project using Capital Outlay funds to pay the architect. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Dossenbach, seconded by Commissioner Almond, <br />it was unanimously adopted to approve the request. <br />Mr. Johnson and Mr. Atkinson also requested that the Board <br />give permission to the Schools to acquire the property across from the <br />old county home and next to the Lee County Senior High School which <br />is now available. Upon motion of Commissioner Wicker, seconded by <br />Commissioner Almond, it was unanimously adopted to approve this request. <br />The Board next took under advisement the Exotic Animal Ordinance <br />as prepared and deferred any action until a later meeting and until all <br />commissioners had an opportunity to study the ordinance. The County <br />Manager was instructed to send a copy of the proposed ordinance to all <br />the veterinarians in the county for their comments. Mr. Billy Kottcamp <br />appeared before the Board to express his concerns regarding the ordinance. <br />Mr. Kottcamp was given a copy of the proposed ordinance and informed that no <br />action would be taken at this meeting. <br />Walter B. Hartman, Jr., County Manager, informed the Board that <br />Section 2, Article III, Impoundment, of the Animal Control Ordinance needed <br />to be amended due to the space limitations on the bulletin board at the <br />Animal. Shelter. After much:discussion, Commissioner Dossenbach moved <br />that the ordinance be amended to read "The time and place of the taking of <br />such animal, together with the time and date of posting the notice shall <br />be available", which motion was seconded by Commissioner Wicker and upon <br />a vote was unanimously adopted. The County Manager was instructed to <br />contact the Humane Society to see if their group might be able to provide <br />an attendant at the Animal Shelter for certain hours of the day. <br />The County Manager informed the Board <br />have agreed to do the county-wide vaccination p <br />by the late Dr. McKinnon.
