y <br />d00K li ?rCE 94. <br />Chiefs were opposed to such move because the system with the dispatching from the <br />.Central Fire House had worked to everyone's satisfaction and at a previous time <br />when the dispatching was done in a combined operation with the Police, there had been <br />general dissatisfaction with the service. The Fire Chiefs requested the Board of <br />Commissioners to discuss the matter with the Aldermen and if possible, to seek to <br />retain the separate dispatching system. <br />Sheriff James Holt, Chief Deputy James Parker, and Administrative <br />Assistant, Kenneth Foushee, appeared before the Board and presented the Budget <br />Request for the Sheriff's Department for the fiscal year 1983-84. The matter was <br />discussed and reviewed at length but no formal action was taken. <br />The Board approved a refund of taxes in the amount of $7. 25 to Mr. <br />Harold R. Wicker, on his property at 529 McIver Street, upon motion of Commissioner <br />Gordon A. Wicker, seconded by Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews, which motion was <br />unanimously adopted upon a vote. <br />The Board discussed the matter of a Rest Home Advisory Committee, <br />and upon motion of Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews, which motion was duly seconded <br />by Commissioner Jerry M. Almond and unanimously adopted upon a vote, it was re- <br />solved to name the members of the Lee County Nursing Home Advisory Committee to <br />serve as the Lee County Rest Home Advisory Committee. <br />The Board next discussed the General Revenue Sharing Program, and <br />upon motion of Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr. , seconded by Commissioner <br />Jerry M. Almond, which motion was unanimously adopted upon a vote, it was resolved <br />to adopt a resolution endorsing the continuation of General Revenue Sharing (copy <br />attached). <br />The Board next reviewed various departmental reports. <br />The County Manager was asked to look into the request of the Council <br />On Aging, if they could be eligible for funding under the Community Services Adminis- <br />tration. <br />The Board also discussed the indigent care program at Central Carolina <br />Hospital. <br />The Chairman appointed Commissioners John R. Dossenbach, Jr. , and <br />Gordon A. Wicker, to serve as a Water Systems Policy Committee. <br />There being no further business to come before the session, it was <br />adjourned sine die. <br />N <br />CLERK <br />
