Chiefs were opposed to such move because the system with the dispatching from the .Central Fire House had worked to everyone's satisfaction and at a previous time when the dispatching was done in a combined operation with the Police, there had been general dissatisfaction with the service. The Fire Chiefs requested the Board of Commissioners to discuss the matter with the Aldermen and if possible, to seek to retain the separate dispatching system. Sheriff James Holt, Chief Deputy James Parker, and Administrative Assistant, Kenneth Foushee, appeared before the Board and presented the Budget Request for the Sheriff's Department for the fiscal year 1983-84. The matter was discussed and reviewed at length but no formal action was taken. The Board approved a refund of taxes in the amount of $7. 25 to Mr. Harold R. Wicker, on his property at 529 McIver Street, upon motion of Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker, seconded by Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews, which motion was unanimously adopted upon a vote. The Board discussed the matter of a Rest Home Advisory Committee, and upon motion of Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews, which motion was duly seconded by Commissioner Jerry M. Almond and unanimously adopted upon a vote, it was re- solved to name the members of the Lee County Nursing Home Advisory Committee to serve as the Lee County Rest Home Advisory Committee. The Board next discussed the General Revenue Sharing Program, and upon motion of Commissioner John R. Dossenbach, Jr. , seconded by Commissioner Jerry M. Almond, which motion was unanimously adopted upon a vote, it was resolved to adopt a resolution endorsing the continuation of General Revenue Sharing (copy attached). The Board next reviewed various departmental reports. The County Manager was asked to look into the request of the Council On Aging, if they could be eligible for funding under the Community Services Adminis- tration. The Board also discussed the indigent care program at Central Carolina Hospital. The Chairman appointed Commissioners John R. Dossenbach, Jr. , and Gordon A. Wicker, to serve as a Water Systems Policy Committee. There being no further business to come before the session, it was adjourned sine die. N CLERK
