ti COUNTY <br /> VIP <br /> o -s7 <br /> 1I'CA% <br /> RESOLUTION AUTHORZING THE COUNTY TO ENTER INTO A CONSTRUCTION AGREEMENT <br /> WITH BAR CONSTRUCTION ADDRESSING SPACE NEEDS AT THE LEE COUNTY COURTHOUSE <br /> AND GOVERNMENT CENTER <br /> WHEREAS, increasing population impacting services and staff at the Lee County <br /> Courthouse has created space issues affecting the Lee County Register of Deeds' Office, the <br /> Clerk of Court's Office, the District Attorney's Office and the Probation Office; and, <br /> WHEREAS, Lee County Government hired Mosely Architects in October 20, 2017 to <br /> conduct a space needs study to determine the best layout of county functions at the Lee <br /> County Courthouse; and, <br /> WHEREAS, in May of 2019, the architects presented an option that addressed such <br /> space needs issues, which included housing the Register of Deeds at a newly purchased <br /> building, also known as the Fireplace Building located near the Courthouse Campus, because it <br /> was impracticable to keep the Register of Deeds in the Courthouse due to overall spacing needs <br /> of courthouse staff and need to have a larger vault to accommodate permanent retention of <br /> records, and housing the District Attorney's Office at the Historic Courthouse; and, <br /> WHEREAS, Lee County Government bid these projects in April 2020 and awarded Bar <br /> Construction as the lowest, responsible responsive bidder at its June 1, 2020 meeting; and, <br /> WHEREAS, Lee County staff is entering into negotiations with Bar Construction on the <br /> construction contract which will govern the renovations located at the Lee County Courthouse, <br /> the Historic Courthouse, the Fireplace Building, and the Lee County Government Center; and, <br /> WHEREAS, the construction contract will have to be approved by the Legal Department <br /> before being signed by the Chair of the Board of Commissioners. <br /> NOW THEREFORE, The Lee County Board of Commissioners hereby resolve as follows: <br /> The Lee County Board of Commissioners hereby approves the contract with Bar <br /> Construction subject to non-material negotiation and finalization of terms by the Legal <br /> Department. <br />
