V. ACTION ITEMS
A. To approve a construction contract and resolution with BAR Construction for updates to
the Lee County Courthouse, Historic Courthouse, Fireplace Building and Government
Center
Santiago Giraldo, Development Services Director, provided a brief summary of the
project. In May 2019, to address space needs at the Lee County Courthouse, the Board
voted to move forward with a plan to move the Register of Deeds to the Fireplace
Building and the District Attorney's Office to the Historic Courthouse. In addressing the
space needs, it was apparent that it was necessary to move the Register of Deeds to
the Fireplace Building in order to expand spacing needs for the Clerk's Office and the
spacing needs of the Register of Deeds. The Fireplace Building offers a large space
that can be updated to maintain the Register of Deeds'records. The County also has
issues at the Lee County Government Center that need to be addressed. Staff decided
to bid all of the projects out together. With the help of our hired Architects, Moseley, at
the first meeting in June, the Board voted to award the construction bid to BAR
Construction. At the time the agenda was released, contract negotiations were still
underway.
Resolution_authorizing_contract_Bar Construction - JG 6-9-20.docx
BAR Construction Contract For Courthouse-GC Renovations.pdf
Motion: Motion to approve the construction contract and Resolution with
BAR Construction for updates to the Lee County Courthouse, Historic
Courthouse, Fireplace Building and Government Center.
Mover: Cameron Sharpe
Moved To: Approve
For: 7 - Amy Dalrymple, Arianna Del Palazzo, Robert Reives, Cameron Sharpe,
Kirk Smith
Absent: Kevin Dodson, Dr. Andre Knecht
Motion Result: Passed
B.
