Bcq"~ 11 J6 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />Tuesday, April 5, 1983 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the <br />County of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened at 9:30 a.m., on <br />Tuesday, April 5, 1983, in the Commissioners Room, on the second floor <br />of the County Office Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, North <br />Carolina. Those present were Commissioners Jerry M. Almond, John R. <br />Dossenbach, Jr., John E. Dotterer, Bertha L. Matthews and Gordon A. <br />Wicker. Chairman Dotterer declared a quorum present and the meeting <br />open for the transaction of business. <br />Chairman Dotterer presided and the following business was <br />transacted: <br />The invocation was given by Rev. James Garrett. <br />The minutes of the regular meeting held on March 21st, 1983, <br />were approved and ordered recorded, upon motion of Commissioner Wicker, <br />duly seconded by Commissioner Almond and unanimously adopted upon a vote. <br />The Board discussed correspondence received from the Department <br />of Transportation regarding the entrance to Carolina Trace. Commissioner <br />Matthews requested that Commissioner Wicker check into the status of the <br />paving of State Road #1204 (Lemon Springs Ruritan Club Road). <br />Mr. Elwin Buchanan, Grants Administrator, appeared before the <br />Board and reviewed the various projects in his office. <br />Mr. Gilbert Matthews, District Chairman, and Mr. Don Pittman, <br />District Conservationist, of the Soil Conservation Service appeared <br />before the Board to give a brief presentation on the duties of the <br />Soil Conservation Service and to present to the Board copies of the <br />Interim Report on the Lee County Soil Survey. <br />Community Action volunteer, Alice Hairston, appeared before <br />the Board to request that the Commissioners give every consideration <br />to the Johnston-Lee Community Action Agency when adopting the budget <br />for Fiscal Year 1983-84. <br />
