Bcq"~ 11 J6 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA Tuesday, April 5, 1983 The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened at 9:30 a.m., on Tuesday, April 5, 1983, in the Commissioners Room, on the second floor of the County Office Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina. Those present were Commissioners Jerry M. Almond, John R. Dossenbach, Jr., John E. Dotterer, Bertha L. Matthews and Gordon A. Wicker. Chairman Dotterer declared a quorum present and the meeting open for the transaction of business. Chairman Dotterer presided and the following business was transacted: The invocation was given by Rev. James Garrett. The minutes of the regular meeting held on March 21st, 1983, were approved and ordered recorded, upon motion of Commissioner Wicker, duly seconded by Commissioner Almond and unanimously adopted upon a vote. The Board discussed correspondence received from the Department of Transportation regarding the entrance to Carolina Trace. Commissioner Matthews requested that Commissioner Wicker check into the status of the paving of State Road #1204 (Lemon Springs Ruritan Club Road). Mr. Elwin Buchanan, Grants Administrator, appeared before the Board and reviewed the various projects in his office. Mr. Gilbert Matthews, District Chairman, and Mr. Don Pittman, District Conservationist, of the Soil Conservation Service appeared before the Board to give a brief presentation on the duties of the Soil Conservation Service and to present to the Board copies of the Interim Report on the Lee County Soil Survey. Community Action volunteer, Alice Hairston, appeared before the Board to request that the Commissioners give every consideration to the Johnston-Lee Community Action Agency when adopting the budget for Fiscal Year 1983-84.
